They are no doubt one of if not the best performance packages ever produced for the average guy.
Didn't it take Ford till 2003 to beat the FBody with the Cobra?

He'll say it doesn't count because it wasn't N/A. Or it wasn't far enough ahead. Or the moon wasn't in the right position.

If you look around, a lot of car companies have jumped on the f/i wagon. Look at heads up racing, the vast majority of the classes are dominated by f/i. It's just the way everything is going.

You're almost stupid if you don't go with turbo... It really sucks driving an N/A Car when the DA goes above 2000, at 4000+ I want to drive it into the river. I can't imagine how the guys at high altitude feel.

Hard to compare the 2 really. 1 had a base price of $21k the other started about $35k. The fact that they were as close as they were speaks mounds about the old 4th gens.

Your right. At any rate it's hard to compare the standard engine of one car to the optional engine of another. Just think if gm woulda put the ls6 as a option. It would force the termi's to change blowers to keep up.

For sure.

They don't call turbo's/blowers altitude compensators for nothing.

Wait a minute, you are going to compare a base model 4th Gen to the top model Mustang?

FWIW, the Cobra was the highest trim package you could get and it didn't start at $35,000. They only come loaded and the sticker was $34,000.

It's not hard to compare the two, they both competed in the same segment of the car market.

This reinforces me bringing something to LS1tech

Your gonna fuss over a $1k? Besides the ones I looked at was a little over $36k. So your telling me when you go look at a new car $13k means nothing to you? That would be about $130 a month difference in payment. They may have competed but they were not really comparable on price alone IMO.

Next thing you'll want to compare a Ford GT to a ZR1.......oh wait......no you won't.

So you are saying that you could buy a loaded SS/Z28 for 21k?

I'm not arguing over 1k, you said they started out at 35k and I'm telling you they stickered for 34k...unless you are ignorant enough to pay sticker, that is more than 1k.

Base price for each. You could get a pretty well loaded Z28 for less than $25k.

You chose to by the smaller engine.....deal with it. I can always add another 70 cubes if I wanted. What would you do then?

I remember thrashing up on some Foxes in dads 85 IROC.....so no they didn't. In the showroom stock classes the fox got thrashed to.

Yep....by default. But if your a ford guy you'll take that W. And actually that's one of the reasons I'm not a fan of gm. I spit **** like it is. You guys don't like it. But if you think older modulars are comparable to a ls then your a fool. If any of you doubt it ......take your blower off.

If it's the track it happens at, let me grab some tires first... these 20" Nittos suck for launching.
Why can't other people have this same attitude instead of acting like a try hard online?

So.

I choose a smaller engine that is FI and have to "deal with it " you choose a bigger cube NA motor and its "what if my car had a blower on it".

Pot meet kettle....

The 85 IROC ran around a 15 sec quarter mile and was slower than the Mustang GT from the same year, plus it cost more. You beat the driver, not the car. No need to try and rewrite history on this one Hio.

He's trying to use a base model 4th Gen versus the most loaded model Mustang in a comparison. You couldn't buy a stripped Cobra, you could only buy them one way...fully loaded.

Typical Hio fashion, always try to twist the facts.
