Because I see too many of these street videos or "Kills" and they are not true indicators of the cars true potential. Because of it, people are mis-led as to think they are good or poor performers when the fact is the driver road conditions.

I drove the legendary Toyota Corolla Sedan (with Four on the Floor, BITCHES!) which, when traffic was high, would decimate the 911. But suffered severely when the road opened up.
He actually tried to claim that the 911 was in a totally different class than my Corolla.
WHOA! Wait…
I'm sorry, this isn't the same at ALL! You're trying to place the ZL1 in the same class as the '13GT500, the HP values of which set it up in the ZR1 class.
LOL!
My bad… . And spare me the 'Pony-car' crap.
Just because the Manufacturer maxes out a pony car, to compete with a Sports Car and wants to claim that its still a Pony-car… that doesn't make it so.
Now to prove me wrong, go find the chart wherein the ZR1 is compared to the '13 GT500 and if those curves don't flatten out, you win.
Best of luck to ya.
(Edit: I LOVE the indicated data on the laterals of the GT500 -vs- ZL1. Hysterical! It's as if the two chassis' are on some level actually comparable… . Funny stuff. Did anyone else notice that the ZL1 #s were identical to the posted reports of the ZL1-vert? 300#s heavier, significantly less stiff body to it's hard-top compadre. Weird…)

Yes, I did.
But I only did so because the two cars, in stock trim, are not equitable, nor anywhere close, given the 100HP deficiency of the ZL1, and the distinction in weight favoring the GT500, making them incomparable.
Now, I couldn't help but to notice that you chose to ignore my challenge to post up the data of the ZR1 and the GT500. But I understand why you'd be hesitant to do so, given that in so doing, you'd find two cars which are exceedingly comparable. Except of course, when the course provides for a turn… . But this is a Drag race forum, so we'll leave that aspect of your losing argument, for another time and perhaps another place.

Peeps that make that comparison are just butthurt about the ZL1 being so far behind in stock form from the GT500.
Blame GM on the 100hp difference, not Furd.

The ZL1 is a hundred HP shy, weighs more and is therefore comparable.
Now Ford builds the V6 Mustang. Which competes with the V6 Camaro.
Ford builds the V8- NA GT Mustang which Competes with the V8 NA Camaros.
Ford's top Car, the SC'd GT500 competes with Chevy's Top SC car the ZR1 Vette.
Now you and Lawnhead, among others of similar means… feel that because Chevy builds the interim SC'd ZL1 that the GT500 must compete with that because it's next in line.
Sadly, just because Ford skipped a cog and shot out to compete with the ZR1, skipping an interim build, this does NOT mean that such is the case.
Chevy simply provided their buyers with the means to get into a well rounded +/- 500whp cruiser… Ford opted to go after the Zr1, skipping the ZL1.
I honestly don't see where the problem is here. The GT500 is a fast car, it's faster than the Zl1, because it was built to compete with the ZR1.
It doesn't do that particularly well, so perhaps THAT is the problem.
Sadly that's not my problem… thus there's no means for me to help ya with that.
Now if Chevy had built the ZL1 to compete with the GT500, it would need do little more than to slap on a larger blower and a equitable cam. We'll note that Chevy has not done so. Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that Chevy is fairly happy with the layout, wherein the respective Chevy platforms are well capable of dealing with the Ford lineup, with the Camaros being DEEP in available designs, over the rather slim pickin's down at the blue-oval lot.
But we can all agree that the Gt500 is faster than the ZL1 and if it makes ya feel any better, we'll also cop to it being faster than our V6 trim. But we find some solace in the certainty that it's supposed to be… so that buoys us through the hard times, until we find a spot to get a glimpse out front, where we find our glorious leader the ZR1 spankin' whatever comes alongside.
I'll also grant that you're entitled to your opinion and while I disagree with it, I respect it, for what it is.

Uh, gt500 and zl1 are direct competitors. If ford still built the GT, that would be the zr1s competitos. Fords car has more hp and is quicker and faster in a straight line stock for stock period. Not necessarily the better car in my opinion, but it is what it is.

I guess if you ignore the fact that the GT500 and ZL1 are similarly priced 2 door 4 seaters and the ZR1 is twice as expensive and a 2 door 2 seater than it makes it easier to pretend like the GT500 should be compared to the ZR1. Too much fan boy. Making my head hurt.

So OVA, were the '98 Mustang GT and Camaro Z28 not direct competitors? Hell, the Camaro had a legitimate 125hp advantage. All that means is that the Mustang got its *** kicked, not that they were in different classes.

Great point. My cousin had a 96 GT that he thought was fast about 10-12 years ago. Ran a 14.7 at the track with it, he couldn't drive to save his life, bone stock with flowmasters. Now he has an '08 Viper.
