2014 C7 Corvette vs 2014 GT500

So far? How's that relevant? Whats the biggest blower bolted down to a ZL1?
It's fairly easy to work out… let's assume that the car continue to use the 6.2L engine.
Take the weight of whatever car it turns out to be… work that into the equation against the base 6.2L displacement of the engine, add the displacement of the new blower, sum up the power, calculate in the superior drag coefficient of the ZL1, the means of the superior suspension to get the power to the ground and the 1/4 mile distance, within the given density altitude and presto… you'll get the ET of the whatever the specific ZL1 that eventually runs faster than the fastest GT500.
Pretty simple really…

Yes ford built the gt500 to compete against a 2 seat car that costs 3x as much. You gm guys are a sad lot. Again it's flattering tho. Just sad your ZL1 can't keep up. Some day Chevy will bring the catfish back into production and then they will run mid 11s off the showroom floor like they did back in '98
Ford built the new 500 to GET ATTENTION!
Check!… it's getting attention.
Hey! It worked… Go figure.
Everyone with any understanding of the sitch, knows that the 500 doesn't begin to compete with the ZR1. It merely possesses the power to push itself up against the Vette line. As demonstrated by this thread, wherein a stock 500 needed most of the day, but eventually caught up to the base C7 LT1 Vette.
Kudos to the boys over at SVT… "Good on 'em, mate…"
Now NO one, not the least of which being ME… has claimed otherwise.
I never said that the ZL1 can't keep up… I said, first, that the ZL1 is a superior car to the 500… and that in stock trim, the 500 is faster and, most recently I said, the ZL1 can be made to go faster than the 500 can be made to go.
So, now that your up to speed… knock yourself out. Let's see how ya do.

Nothing like quoting quarter mile ETs from that one guy with the gutted race car who puts up monster times. If you feel a full weight Camaro with a HCI set up on street tires can drive to the track run 9s or even 10s for that matter then drive home there is no hope for you.

So, he bolted up a bigger blower, maybe bored it out a little?
Huh… How DO these guys come UP with this stuff?
Man ya can't beat teknahlogee…

What it is with you kids?

Nope…
The problem is that the SRK reader tends toward a short attention span.
So I write in snippets to carry them along. It seems to work.
I hope that helps…
Oh! Well thanks for the compliment; and if ya don't mind me askin', just how smart do I seem to be?

Just because they do some weight saving mods doesn't make their car a race car. Hell if i stripped out my car completely to the bare bones and added a full roll cage in it and was still abl to drive it on the street to and from the track or anywhere inbetween then guess what its still a street car!
Personally, I could go either way on this one.
On the one hand, any car that is being used to race, is… by definition "A Race Car".
On the other… just because a car is racing, doesn't make it suitable for the task.
I like 427s definition… thus far its the best one I've seen.

comparing two totally different cars here...yes the gt500 is faster in a straight line, but run these cars through some corners or other handling type courses and you will see the c7 outshine the gt500...Now if you want to compare FI vs FI compare the gt500 against the Zr1 and don't make the excuse of the Zr1 costing more, because you and I know that you get a hell of a lot more in a Zr1 than you do a gt500..
Not for $120,000 you are not. Sorry but 60k difference is a ripoff based on the slight performance differences.

Are you incapable of typing in paragraphs?

LOL! (I apologize for this up front… But I couldn't resist.)
OH! So 'Well above average?'
I'll take it!
Thanks Sport…

Quote:
These all provide downforce at high speeds, keeping the car connected to the ground. The cost of downforce is more drag, and the coefficient of drag for the ZL1 is 0.405
Chevrolet itself lists it @ .387
The 2013 GT500 is .36
How is the ZL1 superior? It's slower, heavier, and IMO.. much uglier.
