ls1 Trans Am vs 2014 5.0 Coyote
#402
You do realize that increased bore and/or stroke will add zero physical size to the motor right? ...and I'm the dumbass...
#403
Does the physical size of an engine block get bigger if you add displacement? Maybe I am missing something here...

Yes it does, when the block is already maxed out...just like all ls blocks are the same size and bores are different which makes thinner cylinder walls..the ls7's can't handle boost like a ls 3,because the bores are smaller..

You win, lol..... my bores are 4.125, how much boost can I handle?
#413
No, no it doesn't. Look here cupcake, adding size via bore and stroke changes nothing as far as physical exterior dimensions. Wrap your tiny, little water head around that idea, and then try to absorb this one...the coyote isn't maxed out.

Same thing with this statement. The Coyote is quite a bit smaller than the old DOHC 4.6, which I'm guessing you're thinking of here.

I'll answer for him...You can't bore them at all. My guess a you might get to 5.2L with more stroke.....but no more than 5.4 for sure. It's why I have said their handicap is their displacement. Not that they can't make plenty of power if you know what to do with it.

Before you start crying about price, or bring up another lame argument...remember, the bore spacing is shared with ye "old" 4.6 mod blocks...and what size have we seen them reach from the factory? Exactly
