Those should be the first mods.........why would you ask and then say besides?
A fast 90 or 102 would be worth near 20 hp on it. A set of 1.8 roller rockers give great tq through the middle too.

I'd disagree. The flywheel and clutch combo is solid, but you gain a solid amount with headers and tune in these V1s. Manifolds pretty restrictive.
If you're talking just air filter setup intake tubing, V1 gains just about nothing. Stock intake system is pretty solid. No real reason to upgrade it until cam is done, or intake manifold is upgraded.
Intake mani, the LS2 mani is worse than the LS6, with the LS2 really in need of an upgrade. LOL

the same theory goes for the 5gens. There's just to much rotational mad to overcome. You're far better off working on that first even though it don't add power in the normal sense. But it will help acceleration.

You're wrong. Spinning a 80lb clutch is dumb. You will not realize the potential of the headers. ......they are just fighting to much weight.

No denying there's some good rev potential on the table with it changed. But clutch should be done later down the road, when you've already got some power to it, and you've got an idea what you plan on doing with it. The very FIRST mod to do? Not in my opinion.
Anyone who jumps into a V1 and wants weight reduction is going to have a hard time. There's very few things that will save decent weight. No ones going to pull heated seats (100lbs each) out in a 4 door Cadillac unless they are focusing on making it a track car... and by then... They're out this section for the most part. LOL
[edit]
On second thought... the first mod someone should do to a newly acquired stock V1 is motor mount, trans mount and diff bushings. LOL

Yeah, spinning an 80lbs clutch\flywheel combo is a lot, but clutch shouldn't be first thing done, if you don't even have an idea of what you plan on getting power level at.

I recently started having clutch issues, but this clutch has MILES on it for a stock clutch... so its just due to age.
