What part of I got the swap stuff for FREE, did you miss? The only thing I will have to buy of any significant cost will be the trans cross member. A swap makes absolute perfect sense especially in this case. I even got a free fourth gen tank and pump.

I am however pressed for time so I am interested in what all mods you suggest for this motor until I have time to swap it. It has been a while since I have messed with a TPI. Is there a cheap or free solution to remedy the insufficient number of injector channels?

I didn't think I'd see members on LS1tech (keyword LS!) telling someone to not LS swap their third gen. The LS platform has every advantage over the old sbc's. Plus he already has 90% of the parts...

Not for me...especially in a turd gen lol. I had a 95 S10 with a 350 swapped in it with fast burn heads, Holley 850, etc., and although it was a super fun truck an LS swap would have been more efficient and much faster without any drawbacks. One day I will have another truck of the same body style with an LS, I am in love with having a sleeper.

OH ****! I agree with this

LS swapping everything is lame. A nice third gen is cool with Gen 1 stuff. What fun is racing when everyone uses the same platform?

That's my word. LS swaps are boring already. And it's amazing how people aren't aware of what an SBC can do.

I get you too, hard to beat LS for power/$$ specially if you have parts siting already.

Nothing wrong with SBC just have to go aftermarket on almost everything: heads, (sometimes blocks), valvetrain, ignition, oil pan, starter, cooling etc etc.

No one is ignorant to the SBC's potential. I have been involved with a iron head, single carb, cast aluminum intake, 421" built that made 940HP. If you are going to make an argument, make sure someone is disagreeing with your statement. That is not the point here. LS swaps will never get boring to me. I don't see any SBC outboard motors.

friend at work purchased parts I recommended, had a reputable shop machine and assemble the short block.

it makes 340rwhp in a 77 pickup truck. just iron vortec heads and good parts. not radical at all. he is using a weiand manifold and has power on the table if he changes a few things.

That's fine for an old, pre-computer vehicle or one that doesn't have to deal with emissions inspections. Not always an option for newer computer controlled cars though.

Yeah I've pieces together a few Vortec headed 350's to. They make a nice cheap little package. The vortecs actually out flow the old camel humps of the early 70's

Snake would probably know a good Ford forum to make this callout on for better results.

Before you race bump your timing 4 degrees and bump your fuel pressure up to about 48 PSI if you can

Umm... ANY engine swap fails emissions inspection in PA. So if you put a LS3 in a 91 Fbody, it fails.

Yea the Vortecs are very similar to LT1 heads without the reverse cooling. Nice factory head. The intake bolt angle won't accept a standard SBC manifold, but they make enough "Vortec" manifolds it isnt an issue. The LT1 on the other hand has a BASTARD bolt pattern! Had to drill/tap new holes in the heads.

To the people saying that a LS-swap is boring, exactly how many of you have actually done the swap?
