calling out fox bodies
So it's taking you 3 cars over a period of 9 years to be in the 13s? Not exactly great bud. I'm no engine builder and don't claim to be. But there is no doubt I'm head and shoulders above you there. After all am smart enough not to preach the merits of a sbf. It's a 347.....built stroked carbed aluminum headed enough compression that it likes race gas. He has changed to a dual plane intake which he said helped since this run. He has also used my wb and jets just this week to try to get the tune closer. The body is race car, caged, race brakes, anti roll bar, no heat ac or wipers.
If your buddy has a 347 with aftermarket heads, compression, big exhaust, good intake, there's no way in **** a bolt on LS1 would be in the same zip code. 347s and LS1s make around the same power when modded like they should be, obviously using any stock part on a 302 top end is just asking to have a turd. LS1 block is obviously stronger so it can make more power safely.
You know next to nothing about an SBF and I'd absolutely love to watch over your shoulder as you did anything more involved than modifying already existing external engine parts. That's why you like stock, already put together ****, because then you can't **** it up with your lack of smarts. There's nothing wrong with that, except you act like you're some all-knowing gift to hotrodding, and this is further displayed by how defensive you immediately get when someone calls you out on an opinion you hold based on nothing concrete. That explains most of your shitty attitude toward aftermarket stuff. For someone like you, it's best to stick to using all OEM type stuff. The aftermarket intimidates you because you're afraid to dig into something you don't know.
It all makes sense now.

347's can make great power just like most small block V8's...I did say most. We have a max effort pump gas 347 that makes a dyno proven 500 HP. The block is obviously the limiter here. The heads are fairly similar in the overall design but runner configuration, combustion chamber configuration and valve train are much better on the LS factory heads. The LS obviously the better power plant. They are a mellinium apart in design so that's how it should be. No apples to apples there.
Lol....someone hand snake a box of tissues after that sob story.
So you've been ******* with various furd **** for 7 years and would still get walked by a stock ls1. It's ok snake.....alot of furd guys are in your shoes.

I had a V6 beater stang until I was 18, so I've owned 3 V8s in the past 7 years. I attended college and then graduate school, so I didn't have the time or money to ever modify a car to utilize its full potential with good parts. 95 Cobra had the heads on it already and the cam advanced like a mother, 86 coupe used those same heads just to get it together quicker, but now on my hatch I'm using parts that a 302 should have.

Would I fault him for not trying it? No. Carrying a chip on his shoulder like he knows how to build an engine? Then yes.
Time for my 2nd cup of java!

The bromance is so entertaining.
This Beast caught my eye while surfing ebay.

What's hilarious is Hio completely ignores that I was in school for 6 years straight after high school, which left me zero time since I was working and had an athletic scholarship on top of that. Hio was done with school after 6th grade, so it's just not something he'd understand, and it shows in every single post he makes - not just the content, but the barely readable gibberish he types. I'd honestly be too embarrassed to join a forum if my writing was that bad
It's okay, little guy, it's why you fit the stereotype of the uneducated hick up the mountains cutting holes in your ****. You're a man in your 40s who has grazed 10s after 16 years of combinations in your hacked car. El Oh El. But back to the point - you know 0 about Fords so just keep guessing and I'll keep setting you straight
Loudnblack, do you have some sort of romantic affiliation with Hio? Anytime someone says something to him, you're like the older brother trying to step in to stop the abuse. Very noble of you
I'd expect nothing less from a guy like you.

I stick up for Hio because he actually contributes technical knowledge to this site and has for a long time. I respect what he has done with his car. I'm sure he's far more intelligent than what is perceived by his childish banter with the Ford ladies.
Keep on whining and contributing nothing.
I see your point and yes it does make sense on his dislike for aftermarket parts. But building an engine is no small task. I'm not talking having a shop build the short block and just slapping the heads on it and saying you built it. Starting from the bare block is a very tedious work that some may not have the time nor resources to available to attempt such task. Engine building isn't cheap either. Hell, I had to buy $300 in just tools. That sucked. haha.
Would I fault him for not trying it? No. Carrying a chip on his shoulder like he knows how to build an engine? Then yes.

On an unrelated note, my cousin (actually cousin's husband) took his M6 2011 LS3 Camaro to the track on Saturday night. Nice cool night, ran 13.8 @ 109. SPACE SHUTTLE ALERT
Wait, are you actually black? Is that why you sought out my honest mistake when typing your username and decided to turn it into something that wasn't intended?
You ever notice how people call Hio by Hiho all the time? It's the same sorta thing as that. Millennium long? Bought in late October, drove it until winter, and then just started wrenching on it late January/early Feb. Barely 2 months of working on it. Swing and a miss, tiger
Go back to regurgitating your credentials to compensate for whatever it is you feel that you're lacking...or redirecting the focus elsewhere when you look like an ***. Either way!

Absolutely, Mark. I doubt many of us even have the necessary tools to build an engine from bare block to running engine - that **** is expensive. But hell, even swapping heads or checking a bearing clearance - I bet he'd be a fish out of water. Hio walks around like he knows why X is better than Y, when he really doesn't, it's just his personal preference. He talks about SBFs as if he has a clue, when he doesn't, just has a buddy running a 347 that got beat by bolt on LS1s or whatever.

P-38 heads are sick. I'd love to do something like that. I've been reading a lot more on YellowBullet lately, once you leave the TOBT section, there is a friggin' WEALTH of information there. Some of the guys are rough around the edges but if you can deal with that, lot of good stuff.
