How does the gt350 stack up against the last year gt500?
I would have thought that they would have kept up with the whole blower theme with the high end mustangs. It seemed to work pretty well.... not saying that 5.2 isn't one hell of a nice N/A motor, very impressive numbers.
I just think all the Cobro's and gt100's, we're pretty cool, and got pretty good gains with simple mods.

Course there's all the rumors the new gt500 is around the corner with 700+ hp twin turbo 5.0

Anything less than the R gets thrashed. Gm seemed to have adjusted the price by the end of that cars run. I was priced to hogh.
The z28 beat the gt350 by 1.8 seconds.....so yea bigger gap. As of now furd hasn't made a 4seater car to match the z28.
The z28 at chuckwalla was on beat tires. It was the MT long term car. The gt350r .....you know the 2 seater one beat it by less than 1.2 second. Anyone knowing anything about road cars will know that would be easily made up with fresh tires. With cars of that caliber it wouldn't surprise me if the z28 was faster with as fresh tires as the r had. Remember. ....the z28 is a 10yr old engine and chassis.
I find it odd that the gt350s have not been tested on more known tracks by now.
The new 1le will likely thrash the r.
Fifgen forced furd to improve the mustang twice. It takes a pretty good car to bitch slap a car after 2 redesigns
GT350 is faster in a straight line. I mean I just assume that's what we are talking about since this is srk and all.
I would assume it's pretty hard to get good instrumented tests with the GT350 and the fact that most mags just want to do the R, which would be even harder to get their hands on. The cars just aren't that available. Hell, I had to drive 5 hrs to not get gouged 10k over by all the greedy dealers near me.
GT350R should be faster on the track and it is. Still $15k cheaper than the Z28 was. Considering it ran over a second faster at Chuckwalla, that's a big gap for a sub 2 minute track...

2 seat vs 4 seater? Lol what? The backseat is USELESS in either car. That dictates nothing other than some lame excuse. Fine, add 20 lbs to the GT350R for a back seat. Z/28 still would lose. Muscle car vs muscle car, # of seats means NOTHING. Throw a couple seats in the back of the GT350R lol.
Brand new tires vs used? Haha, you ever heard of ordering R888's pre-shaved? Huh, they actually shave the tire and yet they grip better than brand new unshaved. Just another 5th gen excuse...
GT350 probably hasn't been tested that much because even GT350 owners are waiting to get the cars they ordered. They're actually high demand unlike the Z/28 ever was. 10k over GT350. Hell, there was a dealer asking $135k for a GT350R. Did they even sell a Z/28 for MSRP?Haha.
GM can claim whatever they want. Guarantee you the 1LE comes with sport cup tires. That's the only way they're going to beat a GT350. Street tires (michelin super sports) vs R-comps... lol.

It's proven the gt350 won't run with a z28. I'm not so sure a gt350 will run with a 6gen either. It won't in a straight line. It probably won't run with a 6g 1le at all.
Back seat is fine in a 5gen. A friend took his family to Disney world in his. 4 people....2 adults 2 teen agers and their luggage for a week. He couldn't have did that with a 2seater car.....just the way it is
I'm not talking about any shaved tires. I'm talking about just a new set that came oe tgat didn't have the cords hanging out of them 1 week after their comparison.
No secret the furd guys will pay way more to keep up with a 5gen.
The 6gen seems like it may be able to handle the gt350 as they are produced now. 1le will put the bail in that coffin at way less $

Lol, what a 6g with A8 in -1000+ DA vs a manual GT350 in 2500 DA. Seems legit. Let's line them up at a road course too while we're at it. Equal drivers = bye bye 6gen.
Who the hell cares? This is road racing, not Disney World racing. Back seat is just a weight on a sheet of paper. Doesn't change anything else other than a few lbs on the curb weight...
The point is, just because the tires have miles on them doesn't mean they are useless. Even brand new tires won't fix the gap the R put on the Z/28. The R is superior, why is it so hard for you to swallow? Like you said, 10 year old motor, old chassis... it should lose!

Find me a 6gen since we're comparing old model (GT350 was released in 2015 vs '16 6g). We'll tango real good.

I don't know why they do Lightning Laps on the least popular configuration, but not many people have even done VIR in that config. It's just weird dude.

The GT350 was the faster around the Nürburgring. Coincidentally, I happened to have both the GT350 and the Z28 with me yesterday and can tell you that the GT350 is faster than the Z28 and slower than the ZL1. The GT350 was faster than the C7 Stingray around the Bowling Green Corvette track with the same driver and slightly slower than the C7 Z06. It was also the fastest to the tow truck.

I'm not sure fastest to a tow truck is a stat they want to hear.

Nothing lol about it. The 6gen and gt350 are very close as it is in all performance stats. With the 6gen having the edge in a straight line
That does suck.....but lighting laps will be here soon enough.

I have a track event in August. Problem is they run the lightning laps (which is what the Z/28 time is run on) on the Grand Course configuration at VIR. No one runs grand course at that track.. TrackDaze does a grand course event in November, but it's only Grand Course for ONE DAY and the only track event I can find for GC.
