Okay, so I understand that this could go in more than one section, so I wont be offended if it gets moved. However alot of guys that watch this section closely have seen my videos and threads.
Now to the point:
I have raced a number of cars on my current set up, and when I dyno my car and then look at the cars I've beaten (and their dyno's) It doesn't make sense.
So Last time I got my car dyno'd it registered 409 RWHP with a Cam, 1-3/4 long tubes, SLP lid, and Loudmouth 2 Exhaust. I had a couple issues, admittedly, but nothing that seemed like it'd make a big difference. I had a header leak, My harmonic balancer was in the process of disintegrating, and I was having oil consumption from bad valve seals (whiteish smoke would come out after lifting).
Here are some car's I've beaten with dyno numbers stronger than mine:
Couple of others but thats a good idea of my point. That run with the gutted 5.0 i had a clogged oil filter robbing some serious power. May be even now but Ill re run it.
Idk why my dyno numbers suck. I also trapped 123 before. My question is, what is a more realistic dyno number, and what other cars should I race?

- C7 M7 (tune only)

- 6th Gen A8 (tune only)
- SRT Scat Pack A8 (tune, Headers, ORX, Catback, CAI)
- 15' Coyote (exhaust)
- 14' Coyote (Full exhaust, boss Mani, CAI)
- Barely lost to 13 coyote M6 (Gutted Interior, 3.73's, CJ Mani, TB, CAI, full exhaust Dumped, Bigs and littles, ~445 RWHP)
- 2015 5th gen A6 (Cam, Stall, CAI, Full Exhaust) unknown size of cam
- 2014 ZL-1 A6 (tune, CAI)
- 2014 CTS-V (Exhaust, CAI)

A dyno is a tool for tuning. Who cares what the numbers say?
Id rather trap 123 with a dyno sheet that says 409 than one that says 509. You are more likely to hurt feelings that way

I know its a tuning tool, but man something about good dyno numbers put the icing on the cake. Doesn't mean its the cake itself but just makes it nice lol. Also when I go to make new goals, I am not sure what to shoot for if my numbers are inaccurate. Idk, I was a bit underwhelmed when I saw 409....
Does it seem to run better than 409 RWHP because just about every car I listed makes more than that.

Well dyno numbers shoukd always be corrected. They make no sense if you don't correct them even to your own previous dynos.
Another thing is most cars are dyno'd with the hood open. That may help some cars.....it may hurt them. Another thing is ram air systems typically help on road power.

Case in point...a few mods back I made like 418 rwhp on a particular dyno, and my buddy's 03 Cobra made 501 rwhp on that same dyno. He had about 200 lbs weight reduction so our raceweight was very close I'm sure. Long story short he beat me by maybe a half car from a roll. Some cars just dyno well, and some don't

OP it really depends on the dyno graph. A car that makes peek torque around 2500rpm and holds it to near red line. Line it up with a car that makes 50 more torque but at 5000rpm and the power torque car is going to beat the other car.
It's not about peek numbers but what is under the curve.

Yep. Dynos are a tool not a bragging right. A nice under curve is what matters. My car did the same thing before going with the setup I have. This go round i had to Dyno tune the car to get some issues worked out with the nitrous but, other than that, I'm not putting out Dyno numbers. Time slip? That's a maybe. I do too much grudge for that. But anyhow, don't be surprised. Just surprise them.
