$5300 for short block 427 with darton sleeves and cam that’s with my core . Mantic clutch cost me $1700 i figure install around 2-3k plus buddy porting heads for $800 it’s adds up quick . I called tsp and they are over a month out for a 416 build which was 8500 with cam and no core . This will
be a gpi build I’m doing also got hi ram for $700 looking to keep it under 12k if possible I figure I’ll need driveshaft and axles though to .
I am not terribly big in the car scene, but I have been to GPI and raced with cars they have built. I've talked with Ryan for a bit when I bought some heads from him.
My friend had a 18 1LE and he let them do heads, cam and an MSD intake. I'm not sure that he had the intake ported but on E85 I he put down 562rwhp stock trans clutch, diff wheels/tires etc.
I believe they are slightly pricey but do quality work the majority of the time. Kind of surprised me years ago that an Arkansas speed shop would be known so well nationally.
I suppose his 1LE diff is larger than regular SS's?

They have some on the best running 5th and 6th gens in the country that’s for sure . He was actually cheaper than the competition for in a lot of things so I’m happy . And yea diff and axles are a lot different

GPI builds solid stuff but the average H/C LT1 isn't a snowballs chance in hell close to 144 mph.
This is right off their website. Pretty sure this was higher DA so the mph is soft. It's probably a 132mph car in hero air full weight. Which is respectable for being on 20's.
Sure you can run mid 9's @ 144-145 like Brandon Hill's NA car if you want to invest 30k + on top of the purchase price and pull about 500lbs out of the car.

Guess you failed to read the part were i said I was reading 5th gen times ? And 30k were you get that number from ?
I didn't fail at anything. 5th gens definitely don't trap 144 H/C on average either.
Brett made a post a while back on what the cost to would be to build a car similar to Brandon's. That's entire mods from body, suspension, drive train...etc

getting some deals, nice. Ya most shops charge 2000-2500 just to do a cam on the lt1 cars because they pull the engine because its easier to line up timing etc. But its out and swapping everything isn't that hathatbefore i quit we took in a car guy did tsp ported heads, cam, dod delete, exhaust, stall, lifters, new gaskets, dsx flex fuel sensor. Parts its self was over 4k. Out dooor he was at like 8500.

People fail to add in suspension mods, brakes, wheels/tires, lighter seats, battery, etc etc to cost of builds when trying to compare what it cost to build these cars shops build. TSP has least 30k in their build if you was to buy everything to do it just like them.

Agreed...
OneslowV,
There is no video I know of. It was a post on his old Facebook page where somebody asked what it would cost to build a car like Brandon's. It was broke down in a itemized list. Just his Winlite wheel/tire setup is pushing 5k.
Imagine hacking holes in a car and doing a complete drivetrain swap for 20 years only to go Low 11s and then desperately clinging to a timing error after you retire from racing forever. So sad.
Imagine talking all the **** you do and then knowing your bolt on termi never left the 12s and your peers thought they ran 11s and you single handedly proved them wrong.
Imagine knowing you have to have whats equivalent to a mazda rotary engine on top your engine or it's a turd.

I feel like a screen shot of that list has been posted in this thread at one point.
It never made sense to me that a person would buy a New car just to make it a gutted out race car. I get it if you own a shop and want people to think they can get their h\c 5th gen to trap 145 mph. For me, if I'm going to spend 75k on a race car, car included, it better run better than 9's.
Finally was able to find some time to make it out to the track. Its a 2 hour drive one way so I didnt stay long. I was able to get 2 passes in. The slower pass was leaving off idle to see if the converter would flash. The faster pass was using the foot and handbrake method. I think it went well for simple mods:
Catless X pipe
ID1000s with E85 tune from AED
Drag pack (275/60/15 Rear)
Weight reduction (No rear seat, one piece DS, tubular radiator support)
BMR suspension parts
Everything else is stock including a 3.15 gear, intake tube/filter and manifold, headers, OAP and axle back, trans and converter, etc.
Selling the Hitler-mobile today. Gonna be sad to see it go, but I didn't have enough free time to dedicate to something as time consuming as the N54s are.
