Thumbs up EVO VS LS1 (stock)

My Buddy just bought a brand spankin new evo right off the lot. This sucker was option'd out So after he put insurance on it, the **** talkin began. He's all "I'll take a vette, GT, Ls1 anything, even thoughs new GTO's"!!!! I figured, Hell he payed $32K let him say what he wants, until he said he can grill me. Now my trans am is stock, but as we all know them F-Bods put alot of upsets on cars that are suppost to beat us. So heres the results: 1st. Run: We went from a twenty cuz i wasn't stupid (he was), from a twenty LS1 dominatinted through the top of 3rd. i must of pulled 1-1/2 on his ***. I was suprised yet proud. 2nd run From a dig, this was a breeze for mr. all wheel drive, the tires broke loose, and after they bit hard, magical 2nd andrd passed him for another win. I couldn't believe it.

I was disappointed in that $32K evo couldn't beat an LS1. I'll tell you what, once again LS1 owners be proud.

I have the video of the race and will be posted in multimedia in a few days.

Sweet Kill!

The EVO8 is a nice ride but I like the F-Body allot more.

On a side note: You may have gotten more reception at the street racing and kill stories section

Every Evo I've sen race has launched like a mad man(if driven correctly) but then fallen flat on its face after about 100ft.

This ended out in the street race area.

Nice kill and as we both know it can boil down to the driver.

IMO the EVO8 is a nice car but it is not an F-Body w/LS1

Nice Kill, i have a similar one

about a week after i got my SS i raced this kid in an EVO.
1st run--- I did the longest burnout i have ever done, i spun into thirdgear at which point it caught and nearly jerked me into the bar ditch(i was a dumb *** getting some dirt on my tires & not cleaning them before we ran, then when they started spining i stayed in it cus i just didnt want to give up) out come obviously he won.
he was cool and said lets go again, "i want a real race to see how I will hang with an LS1" (he also said man it thought for sure you were going to loose it back there)So 2nd run-- i actualy get them hot, and we go again he pulled me hard about a car length then i reeled him in, I had a length & 1/2 when we let off. when we pulled over he said nice car man and told me he ran a best of 14.2et. i hadnt ran yet but when i did a week later i ran a 14.001@99.5 so i guess it was a good race.
not trying to jack this thread but your story matches mine.

Those things run crazy 60 footer times...like 1.5 or something..right out of the factory (with a good driver I suspect), but they don't trap very high..so!

Good kill!

You have a 00 A4 and thats all you ran...what were you 60's and what tires are you using. Just sounds really low for an a4 if you ask me. My brother has a 98 a4 and ran a 13.5 @ 103 on Firestone firehawks, and the only mod he has is a crapmaster 80 series.

Its all about track location, (west texas) it was about 80deg, w/65%hum. my times are on par for "wall dragway". My buddys '02 z28 ran a 13.92, a diff friend in a 99 T/A ran a 14.29 and a guy i know with an 11sec 2000 T/A said he ran a best of 14.2 out there when he was stock. all the cars listed are A4 and were bone stock at the time.

another thing that may have contributed to my times--about a week after i ran, my SES light came on due to a clogged cat on bank 2, i had the warranty replace it, and it seemed to be more responsive after that. im sure they dont colg up over night so i prob wasnt running its best that night at the track.

Nice kill. Try convincing him to do a few of those awd launches at like 6k. After he goes through about a dozen clutches then he'll probably stop talking crap. Turbo awd cars are fun to mod but the more power you make the worse the clutch holds up to it. Very few owners of sti's and evo's have deep enough pockets to mod one up to 500 horse and then race it once it's there.

LOL wtf does that mean?

I dont really like to flame, but you are STUPID!

It seems that all your interests are going fast in a straight line, and you fail to realize that the EVO combines, speed, finesse, and agility into one car. For a fantastic price. In my opinion, i got more all around car for 25K than any stock f-body. Once again, im not talking about straight line speed.

ignorance is bliss I guess.

well, i was just kidding around. but i guess i made a statement that upset some of you guys here onLS1TECHwhen i talk bad about a none LS1 powered car. I'm convenced that i could go on a KKK forum and say something bad about african americans and some body would jump in talking **** to me.

BTW- I'm not ain any way a racist, im trying to make a point

well if you are kidding, then my apolgies.

I understand that you are on an LS1 board, but would it kill anyone to actually respect ALL forms of automotive enthusiasm? whether it be import or domestic. I mean ive been hanging around here a bit and i see the posts that call EVO owners ricers etc...no real reasons to call them ricers. Just doing it out of hate or spite, whatever the reason. No real legitamte reason behind it. Because i drive an import doesnt mean im a ricer. I have owed chevy's also. suprisingly never a ford though.
