Default I Thought Mach 1 Are Fast

this post is NOT to flame mach 1 owners or start any flaming. but as much as i see the mach 1 posts vs. fbodys everybodys says its a real close race. i happend to see mach 1 for the first time at the track. 2 weeks ago i seen them go 13.9-8 for 3 runs. then last week my buddy had an 03 mach and it was an auto and he has k&n filter, predator chip, prochamber, no cats, flowmaster and he ran a 14.0 @ 99mph? and another black mach 1 5 speed with a stick ran after him and he was all stock except for flowmaster and he crapped out a 14.1? so after seeing these runs i am dissapointed. our fbods rip 13.6-3 stock atleast. just thought you guys like to know

They are damned near equal to a stock LS1 with equal drivers. Maybe you saw rookie drivers or cars with tuning issues. Who knows.

They mod up nicely. How's 1,000hp sound?

I have seen a stock one run in the low 13's, I was pretty impressed. His dad had a nice formula too.

Do the mach's have forged internals too?

The Mach's you saw had to have bad drivers. Those Mach's are pretty quick and an LS1 would have probably ran a 14 too with those drivers.

I'm not sure about the internals. From what I hear the crank shaft is good but the rest is junk. But thats just what I hear.

Crank is good yes, and yes, the rest is junk. 10lbs is about max you can "safely" run on the stock block.

Did he ever get an honest past out of it? Last I heard it was too much for him and he was selling it.

Please see above 1,000hp Mach1 that will eat your C5 for brunch and **** it out prior to dinner.

It's all about $$$ my friend. I'm not really a Mach fan, but they are respectable.

Oh geez...that's brilliant. $30K is CHEAP for 1,000hp. You ever been in a 1,000hp car? Didn't think so.

There are certain people here (Gray, you know who ) who've spent that on F-bodies and they make no where near that kind of power.

'Vettes aren't all that special either in the grand scheme of performance cars so get off your high horse.

Hell I got $5,000 dollars in my vette that could beat 90% of the cars on the road.......For $25,000 more 99% of the cars.........the math doesn't add up

I have seen LS1's run 14's as well. Hell, I have a 14 second time slip for my LS1 which involved missing 3rd gear and trapping at 100 mph just like the Mach 1's you saw above.

So to answer, yes Mach 1's are fast and given equal drivers will win in the 1/8 but lose the 2nd 1/8 in almost all cases. Not a car to take lightly.

For another $25K you definitely would walk almost every car on the road. How does the math not add up?

The steep 1st gear of the Mach really helps them.
