Hmmm my speedometer doesn't even go up that high. I have maxed it out at 155 but that's still a bit short..... the corvettes speedometer goes up to 200mph..... but in the end that has a lot to do with gear ratios if I'm not mistaken

Yeah, my truck may only run a 15 flat, but if there's enough room I can hit 207.

i have a granatelli 200mph speedo in my car. i have gotten the car up to about 175 on that. that was before the cam and tune. so maybe i can run it up to 185 or so now. but i will have to find a good place to do it at. the road i used when i hit 175 isnt very smooth. so i am goin to look for a better place and maybe try it out sometime soon. according to www.f-body.org/gears/ 6800rpm and 5th gear with stock 3.42's = 204mph. little too fast for me i think. maybe on a big circle track or somthin. but not on the street.

For some reason I can imagine somebody saying that.

187 mph in 5th gear at 5,800 rpm with a 6,600 redline had to lay off cause of traffic!

Boyce has done it (NATASS) and a couple other guys as well. ****...some of them are
"close" to 200mph in the 1/4 mile. Close is a relative term here.

I have all the power I need to run 200mph. However, the aerodynamics, tires,
gearing, suspension, etc aren't up to par for me to be stupid enough to try
that. 170mph is literally very easy to achieve though...and it comes up real quick.

is that indicated, i.e. the speedo or calculated via the rev counter, rear end and tyre size.

Speedo's even when calibrated can be easily 10% (reading high) at high speed.

Autocar took a STOCK Corvette along a German autobarn and recorded (via GPS tracking) 183mph, the speedo however was showing a very optomistic 195mph!

Very good point.

I do an inspection from bumper to bumper and top to bottom of my car before any high-speed run.

Probably a 50 point inspection or so.

Terminal velocity for the average person is about 140mph. Lack of air resistance...oh boy.
