Default 98 Z28 vs VW R32

Coming home from work last night I saw a VW with a body kit. When I got around the other cars and behind him I saw the R32 badges and dual exhaust. We were in a semi-residential area and around the corners he was getting on a gas a bit so I was hoping I could get next to him when we turned onto the highway.
We turned onto the highway (2 lanes in each direction). I went around a couple slow pokes and he followed so I figured maybe he's game. The light ahead turned red and I anchored my brakes so I could catch it with him (he was in the lane next to me and a few lengths back). I didn't hear him revving when we were sitting at the light and I knew I wouldn't have much traction so I figured I'd just roll into it (I have pretty weak tires) if he hit it. It turned green and he pulled ahead to my front fender so I laid into it. I spun badly through 1st (at least I think so, my clutch is weak so it might have been slipping) then grabbed 2nd, spinning most of the way through it, pulling ahead near the top of the gear then hit 3rd and let the LS1's legs take over and put a few lengths on him, letting off around 90.
He didn't get up next to me again and turned off. I wanted to ask him if it was stock but oh well.
I know they aren't super fast and I would have taken him much worse with traction, but it was still fun since there aren't hardly any fast cars around (rare I even find another 98+ Camaro) so I'll take what I can get. Now if I can only find that EVO that's around when I'm in the car and not my truck...
I'm a basically stock M6, mods in sig.

i love those R32's. I once heard one with full exhaust and the thing sounded insane. Good kill.....but most people like to racae when the light turns green. Its alot safer than hot rodding through other cars going through the intersection.

My good friend has an R32 & hands down, it's the best handling car I've ever driven, even better than the Porshe Cayman S IMO

Hi guys!

Do you know the R32 from HGP? In singleturbocondition he makes 450 HP and run 0-60 in 3.8 sec/0-125 in 14 sec. Topspeed with the short gears is 178 mph and with the long gears 193 mph. Next time startet the biturboversion with 530 HP,so watch out for the HGP-Button

From VW next time startet the new R36 with 280 HP stock

They are cool looking and handle great but unless I was filthy rich and could have a ton of cars I can think of better ways to spend $32K than a superfly golf
Those 500+ hp models would leave many unsuspecting Z06 owners with jaws hanging open.

You can also just look at the interior.....the R32 would have black leather seats and i think they are recaro(not 100% positive) and it would also have a black cloth headliner. My guess is that it is a 20th anni. they are awesome cars have a very clean looking lip kit on it stock and have the same wheels as an r32.....but they have the 1.8t. So theres a good chance somebody put a front mount on the 20th. But if you put a new turbo on the regular 1.8t's they can be pretty fast too.....so it might still be a fun car to play around with.

Nice kill. Thats about the only VW i would buy, even though they are rare. I'm 99% sure they are all wheel drive too.

I believe only 500 R32's were made here in the U.S.....& yes they are all wheel drive & have a clean interior with $1000 each Ricaro seats.......I want 1 as my daily driver
