the best I found was a 99 that was stock and the guy hit 15.6 w/ a 2.7 60' which is absolutely horrible. And the 2000+ have 10lbs more torque than the 95-99's.

 

Z24 = All driver my friend. And they raced to 60...they didn't go to 100. He said the GT was starting to take the lead.

Yes... but "side by side" to 60mph is ridiculous. With any kind of driver, the Stang would have been quite a bit in front of him by that time.

Having owned a car faster than one of the cars in question, but still similar, and currently owning the other car in question, I am not just "looking it up in a magazine." I said I hated using those 0-60mph figures. And I know anything can happen on the street... I was just saying that it shouldn't have happened like that, because you appeared to have based your opinion of the Mustang's speed, from that particular race.

 

i happened to form my opinion of the GT's based on what i have seen from them...theyre arent overly powerful and i think they are grossly over rated from the factory...granted i still like them and with mods they can be fast...but my Pony can hang with them low end, high end they draw away but none the less...ive explained myself

 

Please don't compare a V6 and a GT... they are really nowhere near each other. And they are not anywhere near overrated. They're rated at 260hp, and put down 225-235rwhp. And out of curiosity... how do you get that 232hp figure for your V6 Mustang with just exhaust?

 

well i WILL compare my v-6 to a GT bottom end because i can run with them up until 55-60 and then they draw away because they have more motor...and as for the 232 horsepower, the last time i checked dynos dont lie...dyno courtesy of Pro 1 Auto Inc. Bealeton VA...sorry dude

And I have driven a 2000 GT w/ a 5 speed and they're really not that impressive. Yeah they're decently quick but still not that impressed with it.

 

Plenty of v6's on the market that surpass those "performance" levels.

I just couldn't resist.

 

thank you for backing me up...i dunno if the v-6 just responds better to the full exhaust or what but i can gaurantee that it will run with the GT...have you ever heard of car called a Supra by chance...the last time i checked it was only a 3.0 I6...but i may be wrong...

 

i dunno i might be leaning toward irunelevens response with this. if it were an 05 and up v6 that would be more believeable but who knows maybe you got a factory freak on your hands. but for what its worth i ran a 14.03 at 99.2 with a shifter, mufflers and nitto drags with my gt a while back. nothing to write home about but i cant see a v6 running those numbers with similar mods.

 

samething happen to me but a v6 and i just let him go because everyone knows 60-04 mustangs are slow

 

I'm not gonna take it that far because a 99 and newer Cobra or a Mach 1 can hold their own. But GT's are nothin special.

Better than a GT, more power and I'd much rather have a 6 speed than a 5 speed. And when they were used in f-bodies, Mustangs couldn't touch them. Those GT's were real sh*t nothin like a 5.0 w/ only 240hp or a 4.6 w/ only 225. I laugh at both of those GT's because my Z24 can walk both w/ just a 2.4 Twin Cam 4 banger.

 

you may be correct about a factory freak only because the pony was actually kind quick before and after throwing exhaust on it it will scoot...i always use the saying "that its on steroids" to explain it to people...and im sayin its only quick to 60 or around there...then the GT's start to pull away, i never once said that i beat them so i dunno why irunelevens is getting that impression

 

id have no problem with lining them up with you...you wanna talk **** about mustangs, then go ahead...just dont generalize my cobra and pony with those people who think "they look cool, so ill buy one" my cobra has walked S.S.'s so i dont wanna hear about how "slow" mustangs are...

 

I understand where your comin from kingsnake and it might be possible that your pony is a factory freak wasnt tryin to call u a liar but just seems a bit odd thats all. and i will agree with you against my camaro because i have also walked ls1, but i have also had my *** handed to me on a silver platter by some too.
and to t spence45 all im sayin is that lt1 is no prise. im not saying a gt is. and to be honest with you if i had to do it over again i woulda bough an ls1 t/a or saved up longer to get a 03/04 cobra. and yes the gt's of the lt1 era are not fast at all from the factory just as my car wasnt but it goes pretty damn good now.
