Default Firehawk VS2007 Saleen S281

Well as the title said I raced a 2007 Saleen S281 the other day...

Stated out with me bein bored as **** and it bein a nice day out, boss tells me to take my 15min break so Im thinkin nice day for a quick cruise. Get out flip off tcs and leave the parking lot. Everything is goin normal until I look infront of me and see a blue new mustang with rear filler panel. So I think to myself, lets see if this guy wants to play. I get up to him rev the enging drop it in 1st and let fly shift to 2nd and then slow down. To my enjoyment the mustang takes the bait, but when he pulls up i see Saleen on the side and I kinda start thinking about how much I might lose by.

PERFECT line up I mean perfect, he's sitting right next to me and the light goes red in front of me. Roll down the window...

"Nice car, never raced a Saleen before. "

"You see any cops?"

"Nope"

*sound of engines revving up*

Green light hits and we're gone I'm powershifting 1-3rd all the way upto 115 (dont think thats too good for my stock clutch tho ) and to my suprise from 0-115 i put about a car and a half on him. So I wave and head back to work. Get back inside with a ear to ear grin on my face. My boss asks me why I looks so happy, to which I reply you would have to own something other than your Toyota Prius to understand...

Nice kill! The base Saleen S281 coupe puts out 335hp at the crank. It's basically an expensive Mustang GT with a body kit and some suspension work.

Awesome. Always nice when you can just have a clean run like that. Nice kill. Seems like the new S281s are indeed faster than the old ones. Whenever you look a story with the old gens its a lot more than a car difference at the end LOL.

Actually, I'm not sure about that. If the Saleen web site is to be believed, their cars are actually LIGHTER than a stock Mustang GT! Not sure how they perform that magic trick.

I call BS.....car and driver weighed both...the saleen was 348 lb's heavier....when they tested the stock gt and the saleen , the saleen they sent was on 18 inch wheels not the cool 20's they really come with...so there is more weight there and it was only 5 tenths quicker in the 1/4 mile....i love the look of the saleen ...in the 80's had 3 of them....but i find it hard to believe that they shaved weight off the car.... now the s7 that is a totally diffrent story all together...that car is a wet dream

I dont see how it culd be 348 lbs in either direction. IMHO C&D is a crap mag anyway.

The wheels/tires could add MAYBE 100 lbs. The Exhaust would actually save weight. Engine mods will be a wash more or less.

My bet is that htye just measure according to different standards like how much gas is in the tank.

Simple...it's called body kit and suspension. They are heavier. Saleens have always 'fidged' their numbers to look nice. Weights hav ebeen under listed, and power has always been over - rated...especially the S281SC New Edges.

Good kill all thought those cars are slow as hell. I raced one at the track and beat it by 10 cars. The best I saw it run was a 13.3.
