Default saturn ion killed a vette

we have a motormouth sales guy at the dealership who drives a vette, well a couple weeks ago he got his car dyno'd at 282hp. the ion put down 270 about a month ago. yesterday the vette challenged the guy in the ion to a race. they went from a roll (vette guys idea) 3 times and the ion got him buy at least 3 cars every time. i guess it kinda sucks that the vette lost but its funny as hell.

It doesn't take much more than a pulley and tune to get 270 WHP out of an Ion. A buddy of mine has one making a little more power (305 I think) than that. Neat little sleeper for sure.

Yeah there is a guy at my reserve unit that has a hopped up little ion, pulley, intake, exhaust and tune what not, and he is putting down just over 300, he thought he could beat me when he saw what I drove, but he must have thought it was stock...too bad for him.

wise man says "anyting possible with enough time and money" don't believe it if you don't want to but it happened. Now i love v8's and in particular the chevy's, but the only replacement for displacement is a power adder. so it is possible. light weight as well.

Thanks. That kills me that somebody can get that power out of an Ion with little effort. How do they hold up to the power?

Never underestimate sleepers. Not that I'd want an Ion either way, but...

I bet the Vette guy pissed himself when the hot wheels car blew by!

When I had my wreck, Enterprise set me up with a real nice ion rental...it was by far the gayest thing I have ever had to drive. I only left the house to go back and forth to work, because it was embarrasing to even be seen in that thing!

I'm sorry if I offend any ion lovers, but that thing was not for me! I don't care how much HP it puts out!

Good kill though! I would love to have been in the seat of that 'Vette when he got walked by an ION!

first i just work for saturn i don't like them so you're not offending me, second it was an ion redline, supercharged, but no it was a later vette between 97 and 04. i know it wasnt an 04, the guy is younger so i'll guess closer to 97.

the red line, the supercharged "hotrod" if you will of saturn, actually holds up pretty well, they have more problems from over exuberant drivers on rainy days. the wheel hop is terrible, all the way through first and second if you stay on it.

I was doing some research on those little bastards and they are putting out 220's whp and 190's wtq on stock motor, so with the basic mods, I imagine they could be pretty quick...however..."you can shove as much speed you want up a donkey's ***, it will still never beat a thorough bread"
