Ran an EVO at the track..Question
I went to the track last week and finally got to run a new EVO. I like those cars, great bang for the buck. I wasn't in my car, but was in Darrenls1 99 T/A. It runs 12.3 pretty consisantly with just simple bolt ons. Actually there were 3 EVO's that night!!! We both had the exact same reaction time .537 but I didn't hook well. I ended up running 13.0 (embarrasing) to his 13.65. He gave the usual ricer line " I missed 3rd or I would have beat you". That was the best time of the night for all three EVO's. Aren't they faster than that? Could it have been the driver's?
Depends. Whats your DA? I have seen lots of low 13 second cars (supposedly) run in the 14s all night here in PHX. Its the track. Which is why your time does not neccesarily match to what it would be at other tracks.
3rd gear excuses suck ***. Its like saying "If I were better than you I would have won." Well no kidding.
Nice job man!

Very impressive numbers right there. I really like the performance of those cars, but the styling is just not for me. I will admit that I'd drive the **** out of one if I had it though

I hear that. I love DSMs/Evos, but man, why cant they make a classier looking car in the Evos case?

I think the new Evo X is a bit classier (looks wise) I mean obviously not like a BMW, Merceded etc, but not as boxy looking. Who knows I may look into one if the new Camaro is ridiculously priced.

^I think people dont quite get how many variables are introduced with any FI setup, even near stock.
A couple tiny intake-side leaks on a small-block looses a few HP. On an Evo its a couple tenths.
The devil is in the details.

a good bang for the buck? your joking right?
a 4cyl turbo car that goes USED for 30-35k isnt that much of a bang for the buck. espcially when you see it run 13.65
sorry, i'll take a c5z06 with cash left over.

i think they're one of the ugliest cars on the road today. granted, they're good performers, but the styling makes me want to vomit. they also sound absolutely horrible, IMO. i couldn't see myself driving one of them. i'm under the impression the design team at mitsubishi took their basic design from a shopping cart. the evo honestly looks like a damn shopping cart.
again, they're good performers, but i couldn't see myself rocking the fastest shopping cart known to man. if i was given one for free, i'd drive it right to the dealer for a trade. they just do nothing for me but hurt my eyes.
they're also a horrible bang for the buck, IMO. the f-body ran comparable times to the evo for $10,000 less, plus the f-body will pull the **** out of one on a highway run. evo's are all launch, no top end, at least stock. besides, we don't need to talk about which motor is better. LS1 > *

I..I..I...I...Me..me.
That's just your opinion. No retort needed for that.

Nevermind, I just googled the answer. Exaggerations once again.

I bought mine new for about $24k...... 4 and a half years ago.
I could sell it now for $18k+ easily.
That's great resale if you ask me.

In 8-9 yrs, EVOs will be much cheaper as well.https://ls1tech.com/forums/archive/i.../t-517116.html
so what your saying is that they depreciated at a very high rate my 02 lists for 22k and would likely sell for more with all the work done to it i know i guy who bought a 5 year steeda mustang for 35k and we all know how cheap mustangs go for new, even if the prices were identicle how much more for mataince and parts are you going to pay i just bought a trany filter for my wifes mazda it was 100 bucks just for the fiter WTF good luck with winning us all over

True that!
