This is interesting since the '08 Vette will supposedly do 190 (w/ the additional 38 hp it has). I'd bet it doesn't have the Z06 aero mods which is why it manages to get that high.
In any case you and I are in complete agreement about capn_smoke-a-pole's claims.

Even if the Cd is equal between the C6Z06 and capn smokey's camaro, the facts in no way support his claims. The gearing for the vette is superior as is the weight. IF smokey were to try and acheive 200, and IF he could do 170 with his gearing in 4th even with spray he would find shifting to overdrive gear would lose significant speed. Swapping in a T56 would help only marginally.

1. That Gen 3 Mullet Machine is pretty much a Brick on Wheels with the aerodynamics it has.
2. I got into it earlier in the Thread..he doesn't have enough Engine.

It takes allot of power to hit 200mph. There is a big difference in power once you get in those 170+ speeds.
And honestly, I don't care how much power you have. There is a point in which the terminal velocity of the car will be the issue, not just power. Like I said, without any additonal aerodynanics added to the car. It takes more than just power.

You will be lucky to hit 160's and not be shaking all over the place. Some air gets under that car, and it's over..

They are lowered and have suspension work, etc.
I'll say it again, a bone stock 3rd gen will have terminal velocity problems due to design.
The car needs after market parts.
And by all means, don't compare the salt flats to the streets.
