Wow guys, Im not going to kill myself for yall and Im glad to see some people helping my case. I have a very fresh suspension setup and the car is going to be lowered about 2 inches in the next few weeks, I am waiting on a set of rims for my car so the tires will tuck when i drop it and it will be riding on Z-rated tires. I dont appreciate any of you ******** bashing my car. Imho my car is very clean and can kick the **** out of plenty of 4th gens and that is all I want it to do, it isnt a purpose built top speed car but it does have very stable aerodynamics paired with a decent amount of power to make it well capable of 190mph. Btw slick, my car isnt a backyard built pos like you say, alot of thought has been put into every aspect of it. Hell, it only has 59,000 original miles on it so it really doesnt even feel like an old car.

Im sure one of the TX guys would have no problem running you, alot of TX vids are high mph roll racing....
If your car is what you claim it is, wich are pretty outragous numbers

I dont know why you guys think its imposible for a 3rd gen to run 185mph+ with the right mods anything is posible. His 3rd gen looks real clean I dont know about the mods because I dont know him but his camaro does look cool.

i seen a 3rd gen camaro in the 200mph club...it was street driven, and the only thing that i could tell was done to the outside was a set of headlight covers and pin on hood...i cant remember the hp...it is possible...im not saying captain smokey can or cant run 190....im just saying it is possible

Capn,
What gear ratios & tire height are you running?
BTW...600rwhp on the hit isn't enough to propel you to 190-200mph.
Just my 2 cents for some normal conversation on the topic.

It is possible for third gens to reach those speeds. Ill try to find the article (probly about 15 years old), but there was a chevy high performance (or super chevy?) that had a 88 camaro running 237 mph on the salt flats. It produced ~ 750 hp. Use duct tape in strategic places, lower the front end, jack up the rear (keep air going over not under) and get skinny tires it can be done.
Im not saying yeah or nay on whether capns car can do it (dont want to get involved in that), but in general it can be done. 190 seems possible w/ 600 hp as long as there are supporting aero dynamic mods, and the driver has some big *****.
Not gonna lie, I would love to see that video too!!
Also, zz4's dont really run out of air till about 6000 rpm, mine will hold on the rev limiter at 6200 all day long. It loves high rpm (or maybe its just me)!!

According to theory, to increase top speed by 25% you need double the hp so...if a 3rd gen with 300whp could do 160(very believable) then a 600whp 3rd gen could do 200. It isnt that irrational when you sit down and think about the numbers.

A-1. Aerodynamic Drag Losses
The following equation calculates power loss due to aerodynamic drag, represented by the variable Paero(Watts).
Paero=1/2(air)(v^3)(A)(Cd)
Afrontal = Vehicle frontal area (m2)
Cd = coefficient of drag of vehicle
V = vehicle velocity (m/s)
air = atmospheric density, kg/m3
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A-2. Rolling Resistance Losses
The following equation calculates loss required to overcome rolling resistance, represented by Proll.
Proll = MGr.Veh g (R0 + R1 V + R2 V2 + R3V3) V
MGr.Veh. = gross vehicle mass (kg).
g = acceleration due to gravity (m/s2)
R0, 1, 2 = rolling resistance coefficients
V=velocity
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Using the above I made a spreadsheet to calculate speed/hp required to push a car at that speed a few months ago...
Assuming:
Air Density 1.2 (kg/m^3), Frontal Area of 25 (ft^2), Cd= .3, Vehicle weight = 3600 (lbs) and a rolling resistance of .1
It would require ~510 hp to do ~200 mph (under ideal conditions)
So with 600 hp it is possible if he can find the right road, whether or not its safe is a whole other issue.
After 3 pages of BS: IT IS POSSIBLE!

Like a ricers dream come true eh.
the first three pages of this thread are all opinions, then I bring some actual facts into the argument and I am compared to a ricer?
sorry, I never new ricers where the ones that can back up what they say with proof and us american guys just bullshit all the time.
Or did you mean ricers are the only ones who can do math?

Maybe, should, if this then the equation says it's possible... Sorry, not trying to be an *** but I'm from Missouri on this one. I'll beleive it if I see it.
This rocket should have launched into space. All the math, science and figures said it would.

This is the funniest **** I've seen in a while. I'm glad I joined this site. I usually hang out over at camaroz28. But the amount of retarded **** that goes on here has me spending more time over here reading it and lmao lately. Oh and the fact that I bought an LS1. Good writeups and humor!

Uhhh... Z rated tires might just go ahead and blow up on you at that high of speeds. I'd love to see someone even try to do 170 on any roads around DFW. I get scared at around 150.
