I knew he was full of **** when he said he beat 116-119mph cars on the motor and 125mph cars on spray. Come on now....

Secondly, I've built several SBCs, and while I haven't built your specific combo, I know enough to say that you have a 400HP engine there - and I'm not talking wheel HP! A relatively low compression, 180cc runner, 230 duration cam just isn't going to make impressive power.

I think if you actually put that car on a dyno or ran it on a quarter mile, you'd think differently about its power output. I really hate to do this, but you're claiming 100-120 more rwhp over a stock ZZ4 (that's roughly 150 more engine HP) with heads that flow 30cfm more and a cam 10 degrees bigger!?

Finally, I'd say you're 400-420rwhp estimate is a pretty decent one, WITH THE SPRAY.
Heres an article for you to read http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te...e_engine_build
I think you may wanna reconsider your statment, my heads have minor port work done and IIRC they flowed around 295cfm and I have 10:1 cr. The cam in my sig is an old one, I need to update it but the new one is a 238/242 .576/.582 on a 108lsa. I have a proform race carb sitting on a port matched victor jr. with an msd pro billet distributor and scorpion roller rockers so wtf makes you think I only make 400fwhp? If you wanna argue this then you are an idiot, my car weighs 3400lb with me in it so from my gathering it should be at about 400whp. The one and only time I went to the track it trapped 93mph on motor in the 1/8, I wish I wouldnt have thrown the timeslip away(I was embarrassed of my 2.1 60').

Capn..put down the Shovel..

I call 93mph with an Engine that only goes up to 5800RPM's..that's just me though..that's a mid-12 1/4 pass if it hooked up..

I wish my car had a Flux Capacitor..

Unit, the fact that you let this thread live is a tarnish on you as a mod. In my opinion you (kepping in mind that you are in fact a mod) should go back and read the rules for this section. So far in the first 3 pages the following rules were broken: 1, 4, 6, 8, 9...

now, ill stress, this is just my opinion. i think you do a good job as a mod, but this thread is .

+1
Rules are great, but I'm not going to be some **** mod and lock every
damn post...that is until they really need to be locked down.

...and tarnish my reputation? Puh-lease...I own a Cobra and I'm a mod
on a LSx site. There's not much left to tarnish. However, the
real members here know what I'm about.

Thanks for you input though.

OK... here goes.

1. Your sig states you have 180cc intake runner cylinder heads. No 180 runner head, no matter what platform will flow 295cfm, at any lift. The only way your 180cc casting could be flowing 295cfm is if it were opened up to over 210cc (which is a TON), and then the 295cfm would only be at .7" lift or more - where your new fictional cam doesn't open that far.

2. Your sig states you have a 230 duration single pattern cam, not the 238/242 cam you claim you now have.

3. Nice article by Chevy High Performance. Too bad that not only does it back up my claim that an engine with the specs you list in your sig would make around 400HP, but the build they went with HAS NOTHING IN COMMON WITH YOUR MYTHICAL ENGINE!

The new combo you're talking about could make close to 400rwhp, but not through a shitty header like you've got... which begs the question... Any more changes you want to make to your new fictional engine?

Here you go douchebag-http://www.racingheadservice.com/Information/Technical/Heads/SmallBlockChevy-Heads.asp
It appears they flow 270 out of the box, amazing aint it? And trapping 93 isnt hard in a car that weighs 3150lbs dry on a 60 degree night. Im not claiming to make outrageous power numbers but when cam-only LS1 cars can do 450-460whp why cant a properly built sbc do 400? Just cause I dont meticulously maintain my sig doesnt make me a liar, I have other **** to do besides sit around on the internet all day. And having mid-length headers doesnt make a whole lot of diferrence retard, I have seen tests with 5-10hp diferrence between Lts and shorties. You obviously dont know as much as you think.

I checked the RHS site, a things just keep getting better. They flow 270cfm at .700 lift!! Your cam doesn't come anywhere close to that! That was also on a 4.2" bore!! Those heads in the real world flow about 230-240cfm at .550 lift on a 4" bore. I remember several years ago when those Pro Action heads became real popular because of the price. Unfortunately, the inflated flow numbers and lackluster real world performance killed that trend in a hurry.

Really? Dyno tests on a 3rd gen chassis header? Because 3rd gen chassis shorty headers are a huge compromise design. And at the 400HP level you're at, 5-10HP IS a big difference.
