Street kills never "convince" me of anything... if they did, then I'd think my old intake/exhaust '98 GT could hang right with an LT1 F-body (happened twice). I have no doubts that 9 times out of 10 a 6spd LS1 F-body could pull an '07 350Z 6spd from a roll. But the 1/4 mile is a completely different animal, and the LS1's topend has less chance to shine.

Doesnt an ls1 make about 285 to the wheels? Ive seen 12.9 stock out of an ls1. The 350z puts down between 270 to 285 rwhp (model dependant) Weight about the same, Better gearbox, aerodynamics. My ss is bone stock, to the filter..........13.10 best time. That 350 should be almost identical....theoretically.....All in all, F&^k up and miss a gear.....you lose...........

I tend to agree with this post. I ran a twin turbo 350Z with my N/A LS6. He went down. Seems like the LSX engines are superior.

the 07 350z will suprise an ls1 if the ls1 is stock and has a semi-decent driver. I would know because my GF has one and ive ran just about everything in it. Ive ran an LT1 Vette and pulled about a car and a half, ran an 06 GT and pulled about a car and a half, ran an 06 GTO with a crappy driver and put 2 cars on him. I run consistantly low 13s and im an A4 and I can pull her z by about 2 cars from a roll. From a dig i pull about a car. so if the ls1 driver is not on his game he will be in for a suprise

This thread is so frustrating for me. I see 350Zs and Infinity G35s all the time and can't for the life of me get one to run! I got beside a nice looking black 350Z that was slightly modded (at least exhaust) and a girl was driving and wasn't biting! One of these days I'll catch one that's willing to go at it and then I'll post the results.

Let's move away from ETs for a second and look at trap speeds.
A bolt-on '07 ran 107mph, the stockers 105mph. We can use 105mph as the best to expect.
The best 6M LS1 Fbodies, stock, trap 109mph.
Sorry, stock for stock, all else equal, on any given day the LS1 will trap up to 4mph higher. The LS1 should win every time, especially on a roll.
They are equal on the road circuit, SCCA T2 due to the superior handling of the 350Z.

[QUOTE=Irunelevens;8762043]So if an '06 missing shifts runs a 14.1, what makes it so hard to believe that an '07 with a good driver can't run below 13.5?
I worded that poorly... When I say missed shifts I meant he wasn't riding the RPM's to peak horsepower, shifting way too early what not... That happened on a few of his runs. The one I remember him driving well scored him the 14.1, that's why I called him a novice. I believe those 350z's are capable of much better times, I have just never seen it.
My buddy's dad has the infinity g35 sedan, it's quick and rides nice, but it is no where near fast enough to polish off an ls1, granted it is the sedan version... which also makes it an automatic (with toggle gear selection)

and i love ls1s more than most and want one bad but MOST stock ls1s dont trap 109-110 maybe 20% at the most, while there capable of it with a good driver and decent conditions its not necessarily rare but its not common most are 107, while most 07 zs are around 104-105 normally apparently 107 is possible and definantly is rare...so Stock for stock an ls1 will in all likelyhood pull a 350z by 2-3 cars from 40 to 130 given the average of a 2-3mph trap speed difference...
-With that said a great driverrrrrrr(veeteec or what ever) against joe schmoe in an ls1 will likely be a good race with a slight edge to the ls1. now with veeteec vs ranger, its probably not gonna be as close more than likely the 2+ cars that this OP put in this race

Damn i guess they are getting faster cause I have beat two of them in my GTP easily.I dont know what year they were but they must have been a few years old. I think they sound cool for a six cylinder stock but last weekend I saw a infinity g35 or whatever they call their version of a 350Z with some aftermarket exhaust and it sounded like a honda.

Even then, 107mph is awfully suspicious since the BEST bolt-on '07+ is 107mph.....
Bottom line, LS1 should win every time, all things being equal.

That time was on the top 25 list but he bested it with his 13.1 at 105 putting him NO.1

Here's the link to the VeeTec's thread about running a 13.2 at 107 and he has the timeslips on there to prove it.

Ummmm please stop arguing, if you feel there where just a few changes regarding the motor. Its a completely new motor from the ground up. Twin throttle bodies, slightly higher compression, higher redline etc.....
