Street kills never "convince" me of anything... if they did, then I'd think my old intake/exhaust '98 GT could hang right with an LT1 F-body (happened twice). I have no doubts that 9 times out of 10 a 6spd LS1 F-body could pull an '07 350Z 6spd from a roll. But the 1/4 mile is a completely different animal, and the LS1's topend has less chance to shine.

All in all, an LS1 should win every time, especially from a roll. Bottom line, though, is that if that f-body driver isn't up to snuff the Z will easily have a fighting chance.

Screw all this factory freak 1/4 mile stocker crap. What are these new Z's running with full bolt-ons and top notch NA setups? Not busting the 350's *****......I'm just curious if anyone knows. I've heard that aftermarket tunes can't be put in them.....yet. That makes me wonder how much can be done to bump up the power in those cars from factory condition.

I value a warranty and interior/exterior build quality--the Z is the best RWD platform in my price range.
Don't refer to me as "boy," I used to have an LT1 and was in the f-body crowd for a good long time so I know a thing or two about 4th gens. I give the LS1 the upper hand but everyone acts like there's zero chance a Z could compete.

Wait, are you saying that cars with more displacement and live axles and decades more drag racing aftermarket supprt and R&D are better drag cars overall? No way. It cant be.
We all already know that.
But honestly, do you think every single FI 350Z is on that list? The general point being made here I think is that 350Zs have gotten a lot better from their initial power level, never mind the factory ratings.

And then the funny part: People start hauling out random unrelated crap that has nothing to do with the original point. 350Zs are not bad stock and stock for stock a crappy LS1 driver can loose to a great 350Z driver. I've seen a moron spin a C5Z to a 14.2 at 1700FT elevation. I wanted to kill him. Is it so hard to beleive a guy who can get 13.5s out of a 350Z consistently might take down a novice in an LS1, let alone if its an auto or vert?
Some of you people need to hit up the track more. Its as if you think every LS1 runs a 13.2 bone stock every time it sees the third yellow. Not so. Plenty of stock LS1s running 13.8s here in PHX. Same cars on their best run probably hit 13.3 or whatever. But everyone does not have their best run every single time. Averages are a bitch.
Oh but I am wrong, because car X with a TPI 572 runs 9s on 50 cents worth of washers and a turbonator and 34 octane fuel at 9000 feet. No 350Z will ever take down any LS1 without FI.

Went to the 1/8 mile when I first got it, but haven't had the chance to go back yet... but I've been to several different tracks, several different times, with several different cars. And I'm aware the streets are "where racing began," but that doesn't mean that just because I see car A beat car B I automatically assume that car A will always be faster. And what do I "always talk like?"

I used to have an 06 350z....With an exhaust and 93/100 octane mix, I ran 13.8@103mph (with a crappy 2.1 60ft). I would've loved to get twin turbo's but mine was a defect and had some issues.

My 2004 350Z M6 went 13.80 @102mph on a cool night with a 60ft. of 2.1 completely stock. Then I added headers, exhuast. and cold air and it went 13.80@ 103mph lol. Then I added a 100 shot on top of that and the damn thing blew up off the line on the first pass.. I brought it to the dealer after putting it back stock. Had them replace the motor and sold that piece of crap. Fun car to drive though. But my 02 Z28 is funner!!
Oh, and it dynoed @ 255rwhp and 250rwtrq completely stock on a mustang dyno.. My 2002 Z28 A4 dynoed @ 306rwhp and 311rwtrq stock and ran a 13.60 @ 104 mph with a 2.0 60ft.

Give credit where credits due- sure the 07 350z's are pretty dang good cars. However I hear that the 350z's cant handle much N20 with stock internals, Acually I hear that they cant hold very much boost on stock internals either. This is more or less a question and Im not real sure but what im getting at is that people cam + bolton + 100-150 shot thier ls1's/Lt1's (not that expensive) all the time and make BIG power. To keep a 350z anywhere close it sounds like you would need all new internals + $5000 plus F/I kit + N2o + some other things to keep up. Is it just me or am I the only person on here who is having a hard time finding a car with as much potiential as the F-body's

I'd like to run one and see how fast they are. A few weeks ago when I was breaking in my new tranny, a 350z came right up on my butt (figures how a race always comes up on me when I'm not looking for one, but when I want one, I can never find one). I turned off the highway so I could turn around and head home. Well, he follows me off the highway, and then when I got onto the onramp, I gave it about 3/4 throttle. Of course with the cold pavement, I got sideways, and he was still right with me. Then when we got on the highway, there was too much traffic and I didn't want to kill my new tranny so I let him go.
I have no idea if it was an 07, but it was definitely the new body style. I think they are nice cars. I was sure caught off guard though. Seemed pretty quick to me.

It comes back to displacement--for every one thing you do to a 5.7 it nets you more than a 3.5. Other things are quite obvious--a cam swap is ONE cam in pushrod engines...DOHC cars cost a lot more for that same swap. Smaller engines are going to cost more to mod...hence we don't see as many 400 whp Evo's as f-bodies running around
