I've been challenged by one but i opted not to race because i don't know how fast they are.

You should have no problem beating one as long as its nearly stock. I think they run high 13's-low 14's stock.

This is a very broad question you are asking. First is the 300zx stock? Second if it isn't what is done to it. Stock for stock you shouldn't have a problem with him. But be carefull, when modded they are a monster. There motors are very stout and are capable of 6-700+ on stock internals. Look at Jim Wolf Technology.com(not sure if that is the website or not). They specialize in Nissans.

What kind of racing is going to be done. From a punch,dig or what. Your best bet is to go from a stop. Good Luck!

They're bout as quick as an LT1. Unless it's got quite a few mods, you should be fine.

Depends on alot of stuff. 5 speeds run 14.0 @ 102. Autos run 15.0 @ 92 or so. Stock sticks = 300hp, autos = 280. Mods are cheap and brutal. $1500 gets you a Stillen stage 3 kit for 400 hp and low 13's @ 110. They launch like crap though and have huge turbo lag. I almost bought one. It was a dog till 4000 rpm...then BOOM! They are more top end cars.....not like the LS1 isn't though.

Ask what he is runnin. If he says things like stage 5 and/or nitrous.....run away!!!!

I say go for it anyways A guy that I work with has a 5psd 300zx twin turbo. His car as far as I know is stock, with a fresh motor. We went out and raced around for a good half-hour. Like said above they are nothing until the rpm's are up. We went from a 40mph roll... he went on second beep of the horn that was the only reason that he even held for a second. We went from a dig I had like 8 car lengths by 100 and I spun all the way through first... but so did he.
Either way I say do it... you cant win them all Good luck

I've only seen the car once.It pulled in to an apartment complex in my neighborhood.When he pulled up to the light there was a loud sound like an air brake type noise(very loud)and a thump like bass sound,i don't know if it was a stereo or some kind of mod.It was like air being released and then a loud thump,i didn't know to think.

I don't like the idea of racing in a 35mph zone,if he would have followed me to a better location i would have raced.I couldn't tell if it was modded or not.

The air sound is the blow off valve and the thump probably a stereo.
