Marched much harder then I anticipated. Several cars by 4th.

Stock for stock an LS2 GTO and an LS1 f bod are a drivers race. Ive owned both and know. The fastest listed stock times for a GTO are just as fast as the posted fastest stock f body times.

I thin one thing that is going on though is all the f bodies are good and broken in and the GTOs really arent yet, thats just my opinion.


Anyway to settle this Ill put my stock, well catback only, GTO against a stock f body and we will get it on vid to see what happens exaclty. Any takers???? Im ready to prove one way or the other.

My goat stock runs 8.36 in the 1/8...my trans am when it was stock ran 8.61, both a4 but evey other gto I see at the track runs 8.60's - 8.90's same as the f-body's so who knows.

I'm sure they are well matched. I only ran one before the cam swap but I had full bolt ons, so it was an easy kill. I find that they seem to be harder to lanch. Drivers race.
Never mind Fbodys are waaaaaaaay faster

It is a driver's race. I've raced quite a few but still haven't been beaten by one "yet". All my races were done with simple bolt ons at the most and was power-shifting. Not to be trash talking GTO's, looked at one for a while but passed on it for the 01 WS6. The midnight blue GTOs look fricking bad ***, and atleast the goat comes with a rear that won't break on stock power, lol.

it is sad when i hear this kind of crap here, most of the time i hear this at the mustang site. i understand the feud between ford and chevy but attacking your own kind is hard to understand. i know that launching is a problem. the suspension on the f-body is better for drag racing. gto better for touring applications. both are good cars.

I own an Fbody. I look up to the GTO as a logical progression, sort of the next step once one outgrows the Fbody(not everyone does).

The interior, the overall design.. its a NICE looking car. Not nice looking like the Aussie bodywork, but I'd have to submit that the Fbody guys who hate on it.. just havent taken a closer look or worse yet... are jealous

Closest races I've had have been against LS2 GTOs - on the street. Unfortunately I've seen some bad showings at slippery dragstrips (Sac and Sears).

My cousin has a stock 05 M6 GTO, and I have a 99 A4 Formula Hawk with a lid. It was a drivers race from a dig. I would get about a car or so from the launch, but he would come around me, not till about 115-120. I am sure the race would be pointless from a roll. (He would easily walk my car). I need mods, lol.

I had a full bolt on 6-speed Trans Am before and every time we raced I got him by about a car/car and a half when we both got traction, but I launched my car slightly better (no wheel-hop)

So the Lid LS1 is a draw with the GTO but the full bolt-on LS1 only wins by 1-1.5? Makes no sense...

With the A4 car I would out launch him and he would come around me at about 115-120. If he launched with me he would come around me quickly. The race was won at the launch in other words. Cliff notes: The GTO was faster, the A4 car launched better. = drivers race

With the M6 full bolt on car I would outlaunch him (as I said, no wheel hop) and I got him by about 1-1.5 cars by the time we shut down. Cliff notes: The GTO and full bolt on M6 TA were evenly matched.

Explain how this doesn't make sense.

I have never seen a GTO come close to me yet!LOL Damn I'm an *******!LOL But seriously, why is it that they don't seem to perform well? There isn't a single GTO in the 11's around here?
