call BS on GM then, not me. i didnt post the numbers. i dont see it being the weight of a GT500, but you haven't weighed it yourself, so you cant say im wrong. the only people to weigh it is GM and they say 37XXlbs. thats what im going with. ill take a 10 bolt live axle over the IRS BS anyday...atleast i wont have to re invent the wheel to replace the 10 bolt.

Why? You're the one posting incorrect info (in damned near
every one of your posts in this thread - say goodbye to credibility)...not GM.

Yeah...just put a Ford 9" in it like most do when they start making
real power.

Then stop posting when you have no clue what you're talking about.
N/A 32V motors don't shine anywhere.

You must not know what 4th gen fbodies weigh.
Here's what GM says for the 5th Gen. That my friend
is GT500 weight, not 4th gen weight.

...and yes, I saw you looking at the 5th gen Camaro specs thread.

i was wrong in some posts, i digress

yeah, except its not as easy as it was in cars built for live axles. easy for the Cobra boys, their car is built for a solid rear. the Zeta is not. there goes that idea.

Then stop posting when you have no clue what you're talking about.
i threw out some ideas, and some wrong thoughts. thats far from not having a clue. no im not a blower expert, i admitted that, but the cobra's have always been up top cars in N/A form. and i was always under the impression they were in SC form too. i stand corrected, nor did i claim to be right, simply a thought.

ahh, you beat me to it. 4th gens curb was around what 36xx? i know they are around 37xx-38xx in full dress and the weight of the 5th gen is 38xx or so for the SS model. the GT500 is just a hair shy of 4klbs curb weight. its closer to GT500 weight, but its not far off from 4th gen weight. beit a couple hundred lbs heiver than the 4th, its got around 80 more hp than the 4th gen too. ford better step it up with the Mustang GT, or they are going to be right back behind Camaro where they have been for the longest time.

good run, i agree tho, with a good driver and maybe the valet mode or w/e is going on with the computer gone, you would have got your *** handed to you. they are quick, but it doenst take many mods to shut one down for quite a bit less money, not to mention the lack of a blower.
I don't care what Ford can "finally" do... it's a damn fine car, and a DAMN good motor. And watch out, blackhawk might get you for saying that the GT500 probably should have won

Wishful thinking, just like GM offering a LS7 powered Camaro in the 5th gen.

i totally agree it is a very nice car, damn good motor. but its not the end all of muscle cars. neither is the LS1, but its a damn good motor as well. im a firm beleiver if ford didnt have the supercharger crutch, they would be dead in the water as far as performance.

But Ford did put a supercharger on, from the factory... if the ZR1 didn't have the supercharger crutch it would just be a heavier Z06 with a smaller motor. I think that excuse sounds equally as dumb.

I hardly think the Z06 needed a "crutch". The ZR-1 wasn't supercharged to keep up with the competition, it will just turn car lengths into bus lengths.

I'll have to admit, although the car put down a better 1/4 mile time bone stock than the 2006 GTO I traded in on it, seat-of-the-pants, it didn't seem faster. IIRC, the GTO made a 13.4 pass at 103, GT500 did 12.72@107mph under similar conditions and both had a 2.1x 60ft on stock tires.
107mph???
Is that all 500hp gets them to? I trapped 108.7 in my stock LS1 ... on a 13.4 pass with a junk 60ft. How in the world did the GT500 go 12.7 at 107, especially on a 2.1 60ft?

so pull me back into this ****, my point was i read this stuff everyday and everytime it's a mustang vs an f-body and the f-body wins you come up with your little excusses of why the mustang lost.. that was all, you make people feel like they shouldn't have won a race that they really did win (it's on video for god sakes), and do you think every gt500 that gets beat only has 100 miles on it and is in valet mode, i don't think so. i'm not saying there not fast cars, but i honestly exspected alot more from 500hp. i actually considered buying one until i went and drove one and was severly dissapointed. i love american iron but i thught they would be a hell of alot faster, "wasn't the gt500 supposed to be the z06's competition" cause from where im standing the gt500 doesn't even come close to the z06.

Nice kill!!!

I think the SS and gt500 will be going head to head, while the vette goes after exotics.
