I can't help but laugh at that. I don't understand why someone would pay $65k for a Mustang when it is outdone in every aspect by a C6 vette for $20k less. I love the 03-04 Cobra's, especially at their price point, but the new GT500 is a bit of a dissappointment.

well with that logic you get 500hp either way and the gt500 is 30K less. stupid.
and with 30K you could smoke a z06 for way less.

and i agree. i think the termi's are a better deal.

The "steeda" treatment is mainly cosmetic and suspension. I'm sure that Steeda 500 will give most anything in it's price range (and a lot of cars out of it's price range) a run for it's money.
The 500 was never meant to compete with the Z06, although it can easily in a straight line with a modest investment. Drag racing and track racing are blurred with the Steeda 500. You have a car that's capable of 9 second runs with little mods but dump money into suspension and cosmetics. They're taking the "live-axle" drag car and trying to turn it into a track terror. It can be done but you're working against what the car was originally made for.
With that said, "IF" I had $40-50k to spend I would make a beeline for the nearest dealership and get a new Vette, personally.

I can't understand why someone would pay $65K for a GT500, either. But as for why they wouldn't choose a Corvette over the car even if the price were the same, maybe it's because the person buying the Mustang wanted the ability to have more than one passenger yet still have a car that performs very well. Or maybe, just maybe, while appreciating its performance, not everyone's heart races at the thought of owning a Corvette.

I'm going to give you a clue : 00' Cobra R 5.4 Dohc made 385/385 H.P/LB-FT, N/A from 330 cid displacement. This was under-rated just as the 03/04 supercharged Cobra's 390/390 rating was. Just imagine what they could do with 427 cid and some compression like the LS7 has ????!!!!! Why they didn't use this engine to kill the forced induction excuse, i have no idea but the potential was there . The funny thing is if a Porsche 911 Turbo outruns me, i don't say " YOU HAVE TWIN TURBO'S, NO FAIR " . It is what it is end of story run what you brung .
