_Did not_ kill a 3000GT Accord Honda
You heard it right folks, I lost to a 3000GT that was not anything like a GTO j-spec, so please do not confuse the car that I lost to with a GTO j-spec, because I did not race or beat a GTO j-spec, but Lost to a 3000GT, or quite possibly a Honda accord, I do not know wich, but all I do know is that it was definatly not a GTO, and even if it was a GTO, it would not be a GTO, because the only car with the GTO label is a Pontiac, even though Pontiac stole the GTO label from Ferrari, but that is heresay, because we all know that the only real GTO is the Pontiac, and that a GTO j-spec does not exist, and that there is no was I could have beat a GTO j-spec, because they are not real, but are phantoms of the night, or quite possibly made of ectoplasm, but are in no way real.
In closing:
I lost to a Toyota Civic LS1 XR9 VR EVO LMNOP Accord GTS.
Thank you for your time, and please, keep your GTO shields set to "full" to keep away any non-real, or "ghost", GTOs, for your protection.

Re: Killed a GTO
At 4600(?) pounds, that thing is a tank, more than a grand more pounds than my car and still putting up quite a fight. Weight reduction is the key.
He is also in the process of changing the turbos and adding a boost controller, so we shall see.

Re: Killed a GTO
When he come back with the new turbos and some crazy manifold pressure and destroys me from a red light, then yes, I will call it a REAL GTO.
Be a bit more open minded about things guys, there are some j-spec cars out there that have half the cylinders and twice the power without a hint of rice.

Re: Killed a GTO
History lesson:
1964 was the first year for the GTO. GTO was actually a option on the Tempest LeMans, with buyers selecting option 382 and paying $295.90 extra.
1964 Production
Two Door Coupe, $2491: 7,384
Two Door Hardtop, $2556: 18,422
Two Door Convertible, $2796: 6,644
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Engines:
389 4bbl V8: 24,205
389 3x2 bbl V8: 8,245
Total: 32,450 Available Engines
389 4bbl V8
Single Carter four barrel carburetor.
325 hp
389 cubic inches
Compression: 10.75 : 1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
389 3x2 bbl V8
Known as the "Tri-Power" setup, it consisted of three Rochester two barrel carburetors. The end carbs were vacuum controled, although many were converted to a mechanical linkage for improved throttle response.
348 hp

Re: Killed a GTO
Umm, ok... What are you talking about?
You do know that the 3000GT mr twin-turbo j-spec is called a GTO (in Japan) right?
These are [apparently not] GTOs:

Re: Killed a GTO
It's also called a GTO in Europe but the name was stolen from Pontiac. Evidently in foreign countries U.S. copyrights don't hold up. I've raced quit a few VR-4s and they arent bad cars but I haven't had too much trouble with any as of yet. One with mildly upgraded turbos managed to keep me at a 1 car lead through the 1/4 but not a big problem. I can honestly say that single turbo buicks are a heck of a lot scarier than those twin turboed mitsus. IMHO I don't think the 3000GT is deserving of the name GTO even if it is the VR-4 model. Nice kill anyways though.

Re: Killed a GTO
Pontiac (DeLorean)stole GTO (Gran Turismo Omologato) from Ferrari then Mitsubishi stole it from Pontiac. All's fair I guess...
Mitsubishi actually brands that car the GTO in Japan.
Personally the only GTO I care for is made by Pontiac.
At 4200lbs (on the scales at Byron,IL) I call the 3000gtVR4 a "land whale".

Re: Killed a GTO
Are you kidding me? LOL. Your a moron. We're not disrespecting a car, but a 3000GT is nothing in history compared to the original muscle-car. A 3000GT is probably the "fakest" GTO out there, behind the Ferrari and the Pontiac.
What about all these cars labled GT? After the first car that had the GT label on the front was made, should no other cars ever call themselves a GT? Thats rediculous, just like the GTO argument.

Re: Killed a GTO
I'm talking exactly about what lerajie said- John Delorean stole the GTO tag from Ferrari in 1964 because the Lemans performance package (tri-power 389 ci motor) performed the 0-100-0 run not so unlike the Ferrari's GTO car. Now, I don't know the exact story about the Mitsubishi car, but I'm sure as hell that their car wasn't around in the 60's. That's "what the ****" i'm talking about.
