Default The most $$$$ you've bet on a race

Just as the title says, What is the maximum amount of money that you have bet on a streetrace? I'm just curious, because I've only seen a $500 street race but I've heard of some in the four didgit range.

$22,000. The amount I'll have paid for the car when all is said and done. Every time I race I risk losing it ;)

$100.00 when I was 18 years old. I had a 1980 Malibu with a 406 that would probably run mid-low 12's at best and a guy talked **** to me over the phone about his "Bad *** Regal" I told him to bring that pile of **** on down, and he did! He pulled up in this ugly ***, mis matched wheels, pop riveted hood scoop, joe dirt looking heap of garbage! It sounded pretty good but I still laughed...That is, untill he popped his hood! That son of a bitch had a 421ci. motor out of a Late model dirt car! Dart heads, dart intake, it had an MSD box that was the size of a shoe box! I knew then that I was in trouble....
Well, he closed his hood and I asked if he wanted to look at my motor and he said "Naa" and got in his car. To make a long story short he had slicks vs my bald street tires and he had about 200 more HP than I did witch equaled up to me getting my *** busted by about 4 cars.....

If I only had messed with nitrous back then......And had slicks.

$100 just to try it. And lost. For decades in the Chicago area the stakes have gotten into the 4 digit range. Guys repainting their cars and doing test runs without ET/mph displayed to keep the word from spreading....

Lol, back when i had my mustang i went title for title against this guy who had a civic. The whole fast and the furious thing was going on then so of course he thought his civic was supercivic.

Turned out his civic wasnt supercivic. But he just took off on the highway never to be seen again, without his title lol.

I told the guy holding it to shred it. I didnt want the piece anyway.

I think I remember racing a friend's fox for $5 gas once

He used to give me hell, I couldn't ever mod past him. The last time we raced it was door to door with my car in D and him banging gears off the rev limiter...he got me by a fender. If I had my megashifter back then so I could shift myself I would have got him. (car shifted itself at 4500ish instead of 5500 where I would shift it. 1 out of every 4 times I tried shifting myself with the stock shifter it hit reverse...so I stopped doing that.

Never done a money race before, but I had a cocky (50 year old) vette owner call me out the other day. He asked if i wanted to race, I said sure, he said how much, i said IDC. He pulled out $500 cash and asked if that would do. I agreed.

I would never want to race for $500, but for some reason I agreed to it. We went out to a spot, he kept thinking I was scared of his stock LS1 vert. When I put my t-tops on and asked him how fast he wanted to run from, he claimed he was on diversion for a speeding ticket and couldn't race. I pulled beside him and he waved not to run.

He talked smack, then I think he decided his stock LS1 vert wasn't enough.

I was invovled with a 150$ bet.

A Friend's 383 TH400 2000 WS.6 w/ 12 bolt and n20 vs a Large single turbo Talon TSi, The TSi was a dirt bag racer, crossed the line, and the WS.6 backed off and there was a huge arguement, the crowed went from about 10 on our side, 20 on theirs to about 50 with other people coming.

We got threatened with base ball bats and knives and all that crazy ****, we wanted to re race, they wanted to say they won and we had to put up more money.

Neutral people tried to step in and remain neutral and at the end I get threaten to be shot and I said **** that, take all the money back, no winners.

It may sound like fiction but it was something I'll never forget, the next week I see the punk who threatend me, and he didnt have his boys and was quite the *****.

Never again for me.

Only 1-200 personally. Last year as a group we were doing back to back 500-1000$ races with a friend's car. It's not uncommon to see 1000+ races at grudge/street races around here.

It's all fun for me. I was present for the story BlackScreamin mentioned and that got out of control. It's one of the reasons I'd never race anyone for serious money, especially someone I don't know. But I'd definitely go for something fun like gas money or the hot girl riding home with me instead of my buddy.
