Removing stock LCA bushings

Removing stock LCA bushings
How have you guys gone about removing the stock LCA bushings. I got some 1LE bushings to put in my stock arms, and I need to get the old ones out. I put them in a press yesterday, and supported around the bushing and supported the inside of the arm. In spite of me being careful with setup of the press, the arms still bent. As a matter of fact, I've got an arm with the bushing stuck in place, and the arm still bent! I'm pretty frustrated with this so far, and I can understand why folks buy aftermarket arms.
I guess I have two questions: I figure I could straighten the arms I have, and move on (they're not bent really bad, just at the end by the bushing). Also, how do you guys support the arm in a press (I could pick up another set of used stock arms and try again).
Thanks for the help.

I boxed mine in and hit them maybe three times with a hammer. 2 or 3 hits out, 2 or 3 hits back in. Here are the results.

The key there is boxing them. If you don't weld the ends so they will not collapse if you smack them, you can bend them inward. Put a block of wood in the LCA to avoid that and use a lot of lube.

The bushing is primarily held in place by compression at the "large" side of the bushing. Spray some WD-40, or similar lube on the shell of the bushing, as it has to slide a little, on it's way out.
You may need to compress the arm a LITTLE, to get the "small" end to release, however, if you can find yourself a piece of pipe or tubing to slide over the "large" or flanged end of the bushing, do that, and just give the small end a solid whack or two with a BFH. You could also put a large bolt in the hole of the bushing and hit it there. Either way it should release....

I pressed the bushings out with a usual bench-vise.
I made two spacers of hard wood (tight fit), to avoid bending the lca.
The bushings popped out without trouble.
A 5 minute sketch of the process:
