Default Retracting Brake caliper Dust Boot.

Hello.

My question is how to get the brake piston dust boot to fully retract into the caliper. I followed the instructions from install university website during my brake pad/rotor upgrade, but the rubber "accordian" (spelling?) dust boot wont fold back in as the piston is fully seated ( I have about 3 calipers that have one of the two boots like this. I just reassembled everything and its working fine. I just would like a little piece of mind in knowing how to do it correctly. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

hey guys.

I am using a C-clamp to push the pistons back in, but the DUST BOOT around the piston stays out. They kinda stay mushroomed out and I cant get them to fold back in properly.

I position the c-clamp in the middle of the old inner brake pad and compress it as in the install university websites instructions.

Should I put the clamp inside each piston and then compress it instead?

Is it very hard to pry the boots out and re-seat them the correct "fold" or is that a bad idea.

hope this helps a little.

Could you have the boot on backwards? Just guessing ...
