Thanks, Sam. I do want the slightly softer wheel rate of the Hotchkis, and I now have a clearer picture of the trade-off between rate and firmness between the sets.

What PHB do you suggest as a good compliment to Koni 4/4s and the Hotchkis springs? I saw the Watts link and my head just about exploded. That has got to be the smartest and coolest thing I've ever seen in rear suspension of any kind. But I think for my purposes I can stick to an adj. PHB... How about changing the rear sway bar? I'm already installing a bushing kit (Energy) now and I think it may help the stockers to do a more adequate job than they did with the rubber. Keep the rear sway bar and get a PHB that fits with it or ditch the rear and do both?

Thanks,

Rob

Pretty much a PHB is a PHB is a PHB, all you need is an adjustable one (your choice on it being poly/poly or poly/rod or rod/rod ended, you can talk to sam about what would fit your needs best)
And do not put a bigger swaybar on the rear without getting a matching one on the front. The stock 32mm front (WS6 and SS cars) goes good with the stock 19mm rear. Likewise a 35mm or 36mm front will go good with a 22mm/21mm rear.

Thanks JD_AMG- My car didn't get RPO WS6 or 1LE so I will start with the assumption (and check the diameters this evening) that I have the smaller stock sway bars. I like the UMI 2038 dual adj. PHB. I'm planning to see how it goes with the stockers for the moment and upgrade the sway bars in the spring. I just wanted to make sure I'm not going to use parts that work poorly together in selecting the sway bars. I have looked at the Hotchkis 2204 kit. They say 1 7/16" front (36.5125mm) and 1" rear (25.4mm). Too big on the rear?

Aside from my bars, I also sell Hotchkis... I made my bars because I feel the Hotchkis rear is just way to damned large. If you want to spend more on those, I've got them.... but I feel mine are better balanced, and I've actually used mine to win championships (and developed the bars via competition).

You have 30 front hollow, 19 rear solid on a stock car that is not a WS6 or 1LE.

Thought that rear number was a little big!

Yours look great, 3 positions for adjustment. Characteristically, moving from shortest/tightest position to furthest/longest what are you changing in handling?

Hang on now... you are getting ahead of yourself.

We have a non-adjustable 22mm hollow, and an adjustable 22mm hollow both. The adjustable ranges from the same as a non-adjustable 22 to about the same stiffness as a 1" bar like the Hotchkis rear. The stiffer you make it the more oversteer the car develops. This bar is most useful to those who drag race a lot and want/need a bigger rear bar for that, but don't want something that stiff for the street, or for folks with a Watts link and/or lowered PHB height to counter the lower roll center height.

Otherwise you might just want to stick with the non-adjustable bar.

As this is a street car, a tendency toward a loose rear isn't what we're looking for! And your front bar, does it take out a little of the slight understeer built into most cars?

Thanks for your time- I've fixed thousands of cars but this is the first one I've built, so there's lots of questions I didn't know I had.

Someone, somewhere (can't recall where it was) asked me about stock. I have 13 sets coming in sometime next week.

I can't tell you how long I can do this deal @ $409.99 shipped, depends on how long I get the current pricing and the shipping costs remain steady. This sale could go on for months, could in a week or two.

My suggestion: If you know this is where you want to go with shocks, best to act sooner than later. I get a lot of folks who wait for no real reason (as opposed to having a financial reason, etc) and then get caught out by stock shortages or price changes.

I got bad news about my annoying clutch pedal issue. Looks like it is a slave cylinder problem so I have to go with a clutch upgrade instead. =(

How effective ate the struts at damping the springs? Is it bouncy at all? Takes potholes/harsh bumps like a champ? How well do they perform on a hard launch? I would love it if you could describe how they operate during these conditions.

Got plenty of potholes here in Raleigh (our snowplow drivers have a heavy touch). Koni 4/4s on the way today to deal with them- they're on sale, too.

Do I have to get new bearing/strut bushings? What else do I need to replace?

would bilsteins give the car a harsher ride since they are stiffer than the de crappos? i enjoy the soft feel of the stockers, but im looking for replacements for them with the same soft feel.
