Default Question about strut rattling - need help

I had a noise in the front passengers side wheel area that seemed to be my passenger side strut. when i opened the hood and pushed down on the battery to rock the car i could hear the shock rattling and it sounded like it was hitting the top of the wheel well.

I replaced the shocks with new Monroes this weekend and the sound is still there. When I push on the car and get it rocking I can hear the shock hitting the top of the wheel well. When i took off my old shocks, I noticed the passengers side shock didn't have the boot that slides over the strut shaft, the strut mount had the metal piece that sits under the nut on top of the strut mount and the strut mount itself didn't look broken down or anything.

could the boot that's missing be the cause of the clunking noise? What is the name of that part and where can i get one?

The shaft on the strut I took off had had stripped threads and the threads in the nut were stripped, otherwise the shock was still in good condition.

I found this picture that shows the boot, the second pic is a pic of the shock mount that I took off.

Thats a picture of an Insulator? Do I just need to replace that part? Would this be causing the clunking sound?

The shock on the driver's side did not have this at all and it seems to be working fine. Anybody know where I can get an accurate picture of what pieces need to be on the shock?

Are you certain its the strut, and not something like a dead control arm bushing or sway bar end link causing the noise?

all I did was get p/n and post pic of the part that you originally posted.. you might want to grab the pdf of 93-02 parts manual ..not sure where (if at all) on ls1tech but can be d'led from a link over http://www.camaroforums.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=25609 .. the clunking could also be if the lwr isolator isn't there(rubber dealie the spring sits on that sits on shock spring perch)

Finally fixed the noise after replacing ball joints , tie rods and shocks, it turned out to be the upper strut mount, it looked good , but if you looked really close at the rubber around the strut shaft at the top you could see the rubber was splitting when you pushed on it and allowing the strut shaft to rise up and hit the top of the well.
