Default tubular k-member install write up?

Yeah i did search, I can't find anything. I was curious if there is a write up on installing a tubular k-member with the engine in the car. I'm trying to figure out the best way to hold the engine in place while dropping out the stock k-member and installing the tubular k-member. I'm assuming that everyone uses a cherry picker to hold the engine in place, or is there an easier way?

I used a shock tower brace bolted into the empty upper shock bolt holes. Then used nylon tie down straps secured around the brace and the #1 and #2 headers tubes. The engine stayed perfectly in place.

I used a block of wood on a jack. Worked fine. Name: KmemberandHoosiers005.jpg

I would likely pick one of these up, should make it a lot easier and pretty cheap.

I used a cherry picker to raise and lower the engine when I installed my UMI kmember. It was a lot easier and safer than using a block of wood with a jack, imo.

There are a lot of methods. The easiest method would be the old wood trick as posted above. haha I did mine when we were building the motor so we dropped the K-member. I can tell you that this was a pain and if I were to do it again I would support the engine in the car and lower the K-member separately.

We use a transmission jack and a block of wood when cars are on the lift. Since we're high tech here at UMI, the block of wood is milled with the UMI logo on our CNC. Kidding. Sort of.

Finally placed my order for a UMI K-member, I'm dropping my engine next month to re-paint the engine bay, so I'll just just change the k-members out when I drop the engine.I ordered some Holley polished valve covers today also, I can't wait to get my car on the road this summer!

i just put in my K-member from UMI, its easy.
just labor and pay attention to details like
where the wireing and brake lines are routed.

take some pics of all that...

UMI makes a great piece, which makes putting it in real easy

I'm gonna swap out my K-member as my next upgrade after the rearend. I plan to support the trans with my trans jack and use my cherry picker for the motor.
