Default Best shocks?

Posting here because its vehicle specific. I'm happy with the springs, just want to get rid of the waddle! Thanks, Les...

I've been reading that you should stay away from QA1s (and I have them, so I'm not biased here).

Check out this response to me in another thread:

I'm gonna be switching mine out with Konis very soon.

If you want to get rid of the waddle, BTW... replace your LCAs, or replace your stock LCA bushings with urethane. You should still change out the stock DeCarbons if you're using aftermarket springs, tho.

If you are looking for something more budget friendly the Bilstein shocks. If you are looking for the best performing shock available I would look at the Koni shocks. I don't really care for the Strange/QA1 stuff when installed on a daily driver that will see a large number of miles yearly. We have an amazing sale going on with these Koni shock right now. Here is a link to the information on the sale, if you have any questions or if we can help let me know.

I kinda like being able to adjust the height with coil-overs. Nay that, I REALLY like being able to adjust ride height.

That's the first name that my jobber came up with, pricing them this week. What about being adjustable, I'm sure that's a good thing but really required for a street car?

Konis first, then bilsteins.

I had QA1's on mine front and rear and they were great drag shocks. Not great for corner carving or daily driving. It'd porpoise on some spots during freeway driving, a little unsettling when you're doing this in a spirited manner.

Decarbons are the stock POS shocks that come on the F-bodies. They're usually plaid out by 50-60K miles.

Might want to make sure everything under your car is sound instead of just ordering one random part. It could be a combination of things and easily solved with good replacement bushings on the panhard bar, and lower control arms.

The "waddle" I'm talking about is if you have a stock suspension, at least stock LCAs, you can actually feel the tail end of the car wiggling back and forth when you're coming to a stop. It does this because of the crappy diamond-shaped bushing in the stock LCAs. Even just replacing the stock bushings with urethane can correct this, and it will help your car launch better.

Are you talking side-to-side or forward-backward?
I've felt some side-to-side before, and thats from the PHB geometry (can be fixed with a wattslink)
As far as forward-backward, Ive never noticed anything like that.

Not so fast, while a poly bushing may help launching it can cause the LCA's to bind and hinder handling making things get pretty sketchy.

Side to side & up and down. Both my Formula and T/A did that when they were stock... changing the bushings in the T/A fixed it, as did changing the LCAs on the Formula.

It's that piece of crap stock bushing that allows the play in there.

Yep, aware of that... That's why I usually recommend replacing the LCAs rather than just doing the bushings. But if you're a drag racer, and you're on a budget, they do just fine. I never had any issue with my T/A.

My stock star bushings actually held up pretty well over 10 years of racing and winter abuse. I assumed they'd be pretty flimsy, but now I'm second guessing. Maybe if you were doing drag launches and hitting the bushings really hard with tons of power I guess they could be too flimsy for that application.
