Angry Warning

Just to let all F Body owners know of a bad product on the market.
I purchased through T Byrne(No fault of theirs) a K Member & A Arms from P A Racing, the quality of the welding is extemely poor, BLOBS,MISSING WELD, SPATTER,HOLES ETC,lord knows whats under the paint(wrong colour too),my 12 year old daughter could do better. On top of this one of the engine mounts is 7mm further forward and about 20 degrees out to the other.I have emailed pics back and am still waiting for a reply as to which dumpster to put them in as its not worth shipping back from UK.

I hate to hear that. I ordered the same setup and I hope mine are of better quality.
PA Racing is a sponsor of this board. Maybe they will make it right.

Would you email me the pictures of the K-member and A-arms? I would like to see how they look.

Thanks

John

MIG welding is going to make spatter & the occasional
blob. Although more-careful setup, spatter-shield, etc.
could produce a cosmetically cleaner end product I
wouldn't consider these important to a non-appearance
part.

But sloppy jig work, misaligned features and incomplete
or blown-through welds would concern me on a piece
that's structural. I wouldn't get totally worked up over
eyeball misalignment of mounts etc. as I think the LS1
motor mount pedestals are not symmetric (?). But they
should be parallel (put some steel rod through the
bolt holes and see).

If it's truly defective then I encourage you to "push it
back through the system" so that it serves as a tool of
process correction for the benefit of others. I believe
(or prefer to believe) that the vendor will support you
in processing a defective material return if that's what
this is (ugly is maybe just ugly, but bad is bad).

Sorry to hear man, I would suggest a TIG weld on a item like that. Sloppy welds and holes are unceptable in my book.

I would see what they have to say in return, if they say yea we screwed up and the make it right then thats good, good company. If they tell you to stick that says about there work as well

Just a note - my BMR came in to day and like
I mentioned, one of the pedestals is further
forward than the other. Not crooked, just
offset. I believe this is a proper feature. But
there isn't an ugly weld to be found on the
piece, let alone an incomplete one.

That sounds unacceptable to me. And MIG welds don't have to look like that if done with good equipment by a trained operator. A good MIG machine uses shielding gas, not flux core wire.

As for the BMR K member, I wouldn't put that on my car either. They are underbuilt and have been know to break.

Those BMR folks are damned good welders. Their beads are top notch.

They just need to upgrade their design staff to match it ...

Any updates on your problems? Did PA make it right?
