Default Any problems with the BMR Tubular K-members and daily driving?

Looking at going on a diet for my front end, like the idea of shaving over 30#'s with this setup - but any problems with them?

Mine took a little finese (not the shampoo) to get it in and all the bolts to line up. So far no problems, but I check it weekly cause I don't trust it.

Had it for almost 2 years and NEVER had ANY problems. I don't know why people don't trust it. The K-member it's self is STRONG and the only way your bolts will come out is if you didn't tighten them fully.

There was a lengthy thread awhile back about someone who had their BMR K-member snap like dry pasta during a low speed parking maneuver. Granted its only happened to a few unlucky folks, but still...

I'm not worried about the bolts falling out, I installed them. I'm worried about not knowing if the welds are good, or the ability for it to handle high loads without snapping. I do not want to be doing 80mph through a turn, then all of a sudden my K-member snaps in half. It has held up so far and it probably will last a long time. I'm just paranoid.....

I'd hold out for the LG K-member...

I installed mine just after the last big discussion.
The front end is a fair bit lighter now, also a
fair bit "floppier" - I have some shake on uneven
pavement in corners. Looking at adding some
triangulation in the front to stiffen it up a little
(if I can do that for well less than the 50+ pounds
(adding in the motor mounts) I originally shed.
Also think I will be adding some over-strapping on
a couple of the welds just for luck, the main "T"
welds in particular.

But so far no "hard problems".

I'm the one John95Z28 is talking about. Here's the link to the thread, https://ls1tech.com/forums/suspension-brakes/190387-bmr-k-member-broke.html
The car was used as a daily driver. I had the K-member installed back in early 2003. The weld where the front bar connected to the front lower A-arm mount snapped. Thank god I was only parking my car. BMR replaced the K-member for free. They said they only heard of 3-4 breaking, and all were in the same spot. They have since changed the design of how the bar connects to the mounts and made the welds beefier. I had the new one installed by Cartek and so far so good. The car is no longer a daily driver, so it won't see as much stress and pounding as it did, but regardless the k-member should still have held up. Good luck with your decision, I still have faith in the piece.

No issues here. Been in the car for a year and ~15K miles.
