bilstein hd shocks with bmr lowering springs
just ordered a set of bmr lowering springs for my 02 ws6. i was going to just get the a set of bilstein HD shocks to put in with the springs. but then i was told that i need revalved shocks. could someone explain for me what would happen if i just put on the regular HD shocks. would the ride be the same? would the shock not hold up to the 1 inch drop? my car has 45k miles on it. so i figured new bilsteins wouldnt hurt and while im at it i would drop it an inch. i would be satisified with the same ride or a little tighter suspension then there is now as long as it dropped an inch.should i wait and save up money for revalved shocks? what should i do

Well, I think Mitch explained it best in the other thread. While the regular Bilstein HDs are not the optimum shock, they will work fine for most normal applications.

thanks again, yea the car is just an around town car and little cruises here and there. i usually take it pretty easy on the car and never go hard into turns. i was looking to go to the track a few times next year but its not really a track car. just wanted to go for the fun of it. so i wont be upset with the bmr and bilsteins right

www.geocites.com/ws6firebirdta00/modding thats my site and thats with bmr springs cut 7/16 of a coil off in the front with the shock set up i told you about and the car handles better than any other fbodies i have rode in. i mean there is more stuff done to the suspension too but it feels great

It's not just the drop, it's the spring rate you have to worry about. The BMR's are pretty soft as lowering springs go and may work ok with the Bilstien shocks. But, the Koni's are always a better choice (or a revalve).
