Default New big brake setup LT1 (LS1 Wilwood(pic)

LT1 to LS1 Wilwood kit. Well, finally got the front Six piston Wilwoods on the car and I have to say that these are some very nice brakes. I will be working on the rears this week and other stuff. The pile of parts is slowly getting smaller.....I think another 6 months and I should be done with this d*mn car. LOL

If anyone is interested in a front & rear set of Earl's stainless lines I will make someone a fairly good deal. The lines are like new (probably don't have 500 miles on them ? Only reason I changed them out was because I bought the matching Wilwood stainless lines front and rear.

PM me if your interested, they should be available by next weekend...

Oh yeah, thanks again for all the hard work on the car Tommy (51st TAR)

Another pic without the brakes so you can see the spindle, etc.

Thanks for the compliments, Yes the lines for sale are for a LT1 ( front and rear ). I'm using the lines for a LS1 (98-02) for my front & rears. I'm also using the spindles from a (98-02) LS1 (silver chrome / powdercoat ). If anyone is trying to do the Wilwood setup for a LT1 make sure you get the LS1 spindles and LS1 6 piston kit, so you don't have to cut the ears on the spindle. LT1 kit is a ( PITA ) you have to modify the spindles.

I've had the same wilwood kit for a year now and all i can say is you will absolutely love them, they are one of the best mods i've done to date. Only downfall is the lack of proper e-brake cable hookup, I still need to make some sort of bracket for the e-brake hook up. Lokar has a adapter thet WW recomends but it does not work at all, so you will need to make some sort of bracket. And if you are running a 17X9 SS wheel or alike pick up some 1/16th of an inch wheel spacers for the front, there is very little clearance from the face of the caliper to the wheel and when you heat them up they will rub.

How did the BMR tubular front suspension stuff fit and install? Thats my next step, K-member and a-arms.

Thanks for the positive input on the 6 pistons up front. I don't think I will have a problem with the rear e-brake cable because the kit I'm using is one that most people don't even know to use( kit is for a MOSER 12 bolt big tube). It come with the 2 piece rear rotor (not the 1 piece like most people get) and it also has the separate E-parking brake with a Mini (tiny) caliper. I believe that this kit will work excellent (fingers crossed). As far as the fronts rubbing I think I will be okay. I'm running a custom built set of DAZZ Motorsport (MATIZ) 3 piece rims (18 inch).

Actually the BMR front K-member and Upper & Lowers went together pretty easy. I did have the use of an automotive rack which definitely helps. I only had a slight problem lining up the K-member bolts to the holes in the frame. It took me an extra 40 or 50 minutes to get it right, but that was the only snag in the entire install. I don't think you will have any problems. The BMR stuff would look super-tite on your car if it was all powdercoated white

You have my second favorite LT1 F-body next to my 96 WS6. Let me know if you have any questions on the setup. Mike

Do you have more info on that rear kit? Will it work on the Moser 9", I am going to be buying my rear set soon. Are you saying that there are 2 calipers on each rotor? So it is not the internal/integrated parking brake wilwood recommends for the rear F bodys? What is the diameter of the rear rotors?
Thanks

Wilwood makes kits that are non internal e-brake kits for any rear end you may have, most are dynalite 4 pistons with a small 1 piston caliper for the e-brake much like what the Lambo's have. Only downfall of the 1 piston caliper is they rattle and squeek after a while from what i hear from others. I'll be going to something like that just for the fact the internal kit looks gay all set in like that plus the fact the e-brake don't work anyways.

CAMSS30, pretty much summed up the same answer I would have given you on the rear kit. The one thing I definitely like better about the older kit that Wilwood does not even push anymore is the fact that the kit is a 2 piece like the fronts. I definitely agree about the fact that the internal parking brake on the new setup is . I actually have seen both kits and like the current one I have much better than the LS1 rear kit.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure you will like the Wilwood product.

140-7763-D, if you have a 93-97 car this is the part # to the LS1 kit which you will need spindles from a 98-02 LS1 car to make this kit plug & play. Fronts measure 13.15" and the rears 12.19". Also, if you do the rear kit with the external parking brake you will get the added benefit of having a 2 piece rear. The LS1 rear with the internal parking brake is 1 piece . I just think having the full two piece on the front & rear looks much nicer .

Hope that helps

The uprights are the wilwood pieces aren't they? They look killer. Very nice setup. What Hals and spring rate did you go with, and I'm assuming this baby is set up to turn. Rear shocks? What all comes with that front kit? What wheels are you running to fit them? 13" rotors? Thanks for the info.

I'm not sure what you mean by uprights ? Thanks for the props on the brake setup. HAL 12 way coil-over up-front with the BMR 1.25 springs. The rears are the HAL 12 way adjustable with the matching BMR 1.25 springs. I'm strongly considering putting the new HAL rear coil-over on the car and setting it up more for a street/strip setting. My old setup with the Eibach sportlines was way to drastic and I could only pull 1.85 60 ft's with ET streets. So, I decided to bring the car up in ride height and hopefully get my 60ft into the 1.7's . The front LS1 kit comes with a 13.15" 2 piece rotor setup with a billet center hat. The caliper is Wilwood's 6 piston SLR (black billet). Pretty much everything you need for the fronts is in the kit except the brake lines (I'm using wilwood's front & rear SS lines) and brake fluid. Remember if you have a 93-97 LT1 car your gonna want to get a set of 98-02 LS1 spindles so you can just bolt the LS1 big brake kit right up to your setup. As far as the wheels, I'm running a custom built set of DAZZ Motorsport (MATIZ) 18" 3-piece rims. Front rim 18x9 and rear is 18x10.5" (315/30/18 BFG DRAG II).

Hope that answer some question, I will certainly post more pics of the rear setup when it is installed this week.

FYI: I have the internal e-brake kit and it is a 2 piece rotor and hat, if anyone does the fronts on a '97 or older car get the LS1 kit and '98 or newer spindles or you have alot of cutting to do.
