I want to maximize my traction at the dragstrip. I'm willing to buy new wheels in order to max out what tires I can run widthwise. I don't want to make any changes to the body/rear wheelwells. I've made no changes to the factory 1LE package and don't intend to. So how wide a rear wheel can I stick in the rear wheelwell, given that I'm willing to spring for new wheels such as Fikse's or HRE's. The car will still be driven on the street lots, but not everyday. So let's get opinions on my best options. Oh yea, I gonna spring for matching front wheels and new tires--so how small should they be? Thanks for the help, and if anyone has pics that would be great!

At the track: 15"x3.75 or 4" Weld Draglites, or Centerline Convo-Pro's w/skinny 165x15 radials or race frontrunners. 15x7.5 or 8" Draglites or Convo-Pro's w/9.5-10.5, or 11.5" d.o.t. tire like M&H, ET Street, or Hoosier QTP's. You said at the strip---this is not the best driving street combo....WJ.

Must be street driveable. My only reason for being willing to buy new rims was to get wider than the 9" OEM WS6 17's. So what will work??

17x9 in the front 17x10 on the back. I have a friend thats running 18x10's on all 4 corners and hes not rubbing at all, Hes lowered one inch if that helps. He wants to get rid of the wheels cause he wants something different. Theyre a set of TT2's, theyre for sale in the parts classified section.

OK so I go 17x11 in the rear--now what tire?? knowing that it's got to be street driveable. I'm willing so accept poor mileage in order to be sticky at the dragstrip.

If you are willing to accept high wear rates, then go with soem Nitto DRs. Most peoeple report them lasting anywhere from 7-10K miles.
Otherwise, if you want a good street tire, try BFG G-Force KDs. They are pretty sticky and will last longer than the DRs.
Good luck with your search

So its down to the BFG KD's or the Nitto's---does everyone agree the 60' times are going to be noticeably better with the Nittos??
