Baer Bear claw GT+ kit on Stock 17" WS6 wheels
Hey you guys, I just bought a new Baer GT+ brake kit for the front of my 2002 WS6 Trans Am. So far all the pictures and threads I have read had the kit with after market wheels set up. I have the Collector's Edition Trans Am with the black 17 x 9 wheels. I was just wondering will the kit fit behind of the stock wheel or not? I can even put up with a little bit of modification if needed to have those brakes too. But I need to know if its even possible with the stock wheels period. Any comment, ideas, or pictures will be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot.

I am getting the 13.1 inch rotors, they are suppose to be a bit thicker than the stock ones too. The calibers are same size as the vette ones. so I hope they will fit. I really want them on my car.

Same kit did NOT fit my 17" TTII's. Ended up having to grind off the front leading edge of the caliper fins so as to not interfere with inner wheel bump-out directly behind the spokes.
Also had to grind the huge welds that run around the front edge of the lower control arm nose as they actually hit the inner braking surface of the Eradispeed 2-pc rotors.
I have no experience with the fitment to the standard factory WS6 wheels - but as mentioned there is a fitment guide template available from Baer. I decided not to go to the trouble when I purchased my kit and went based on the salesman stating that they would fit with no interference.
Sure wasn't big on grinding on $1600 calipers - but at that point I had already cut off the ears of my stock spindles to allow for the Baer caliper brackets and wasn't about to turn back...

From what I have been told, they will fit stock 17" wheels just so long as the wheel weights are on the outside of the wheel. But I would say your best bet is to do what others have said and use the template on the Baer website.

Thanks alot guys, They will arrive tommorow. I guess there is only one way to find out. I want to put these on my car regurdless the outcome. But so far I feel a bit better about doing this, since nobody has yet to come in and said that it is impossible. I guess that is a good thing. Some say it fits, some say not. I will be finding it out soon and I will post the pictures however the outcome is. Thanks you guys.

Here's some closeups with the GT+ kit and the TTII's. As you can see, the face of the caliper just clears behind the spokes - after I ground down the cooling fins I have around 1/8" clearance between caliper and the bulge in the wheel rim directly behind the spokes. Never had a problem with any interferance after I took care of the slight modifications described in my earlier post...

I remembered seeing your pictures but I thought there was another person that was able to get them to fit with no modification. Maybe not though. I do know that TT2s don't allow as much clearance as the factory wheels.
