thanks for the replies, i was guessing it was the smaller skinnies up front causing this. as armkneez8 said its not hurting performance, just annoying. ran my best times for the year tonight had a 1st pass 1.90 60' 12.693 1/4 108.97 mph, 2nd pass 1.858 60' 12.681 1/4 109.44 mph, 3rd pass 1.901 60' 12.709 1/4 109.08, 4th pass 1.915 60' 12.656 1/4 110.32 mph. again thank ya'll for replies, i'm going to take race tires off tomorrow and put street tires back on to see if lights stay out.

actually abs doesnt make you stop in a shorter distance it makes you stop in a longer distance. what abs is meant for is directional stability. so that when you do go into a panic stop you wont end up facing the wrong way on the road. but it does increase stoping distance. if the light is on that just deactivates the abs so the brakes will lock up if you go into a panic stop

I know how an ABS system works.
The late 4th-gen f-body does not have a traditional proportioning valve. It is electronically controlled by the ABS system. Therefore, with the ABS sytem off, the rear will probably lock up before the front. Now thow in some yaw and the car could spin. Granted, this is a worst case scenario. Older cars without ABS had proportioning valves that were set to prevent the rear wheels from locking up first (but it still happeneding in vehicles that are light in the rear...vans and trucks...I know from experience). On a drag strip, this may not matter. But on the street it does.
Also, ABS is actually racing technology (not drag racing, but road racing / circuit racing) that has made it down to street cars.
