Default slp or strano??

trying to compare the slp suspension setup, blistien shocks/slp springs/slp swaybars with the strano setup of koni shocks/strano springs/strano swaybars.

has anyone had both??

looking for info as to the ride quality for a daily driver, performance for autox and longevity.

is this a joke? lol

Sams bars are bigger and lighter, springs are more turned. The slp shocks are not in the BALL park of the KONIS. The konis are better and plust adjustable. No comparision and Sam you can actually talk too if you need too.

Sam all the way no questions. You will be happy.

All 46 of them since November of 2006?

I've been on Tech and in this unpopular section for a LONG time and quite frankly, this is the first post I've noticed of yours.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see your here.

As many will attest, I've gone toe-to-toe with several vendors, calling them like I've experienced (not read about, rather experienced) them ... BMR, Spohn, LGM, etc. I come here looking for data, not a salesman and figure most do the same.

I would like to see Mr. Stellhorn post up and help when someone has a setup issue. His experience in road racing F-Bodys would be a HUGE asset.

I have the SLP level II (Shocks and springs) on the Hawk and it's OK.
I find it a bit spongy for the front beside that I like it a lot. Service I received from them as been good. So basically no complaints here.

I think Strano's setup comes in very recommended. If I had to do it again, it would be a hard choice for sure.

I am currently replacing the "old" Bilstein HDs (part number ends with 1913) with the "new" Bilstein shocks that are (as Bilstein advertizes on their website) the SLP shock, (part number ends with 2406).

Right now I have one old shock on the driver side and one new shock on the passenger side. The new shock seems to be stiffer which i think can be a different valving or simply wear...it could as well be my imagination.

Over the past two years I have seen (read) so much valueable information from Sam Strano here on this board that I'm sure next time I'll buy from him. If you call/email most (not all) other vendor you're only talking to salesmen who want to sell THEIR stuff and have limited knowledge about or simply ignore what YOU want.

I'm an SLP dealer, FWIW. I sold a Loudmouth 2 just yesterday. If during the course of conversation we determine that one of their things is better for you, then that's what I'll sell you.

I don't know what you are after, and really can't by e-mail. I don't work well by e-mail because I like specifics over broad-brushed generalizations, and you can ask any of my customers how long I spend on the phone trying to make sure you get what's best for the needs you have.

And incidentially, Don Stellhorn is my wholesale sales rep.

I have NO problem with SLP or their parts, which is why I sell them when I think they are appropriate. But they are a big company where I'm small and can do what I want without any particular allegiance to any company or product line. I also personally own a Camaro which I use both to autocross and make long trips. I've driven it to Texas and Florida from PA multiple times even with the "race" suspension on. It's firm, but not harsh and better than a stock car in terms of ride harshness. Maybe when we talk you want something softer, then SLP is one of the options we can explore. Fair enough?

I just wanted to get on the record here and say I'm not anti-SLP. If I was I wouldn't sell them, or have their airlid on my car.

I have not had both. But I like my Koni SAs and Strano sway bars very much. FWIW I plan to have Strano Springs on soon. They are a great combo for an autocross car!

--I think this makes him an excellent person to recommend auto-x combos.

Here is a web site of spring rates: http://www.angelfire.com/my/fastcar/suspension.html
Stranos are 550 front 150 rear and drop 1.2"

I would go w Konis for the quality and adjustability. But Sam sells revalved bilstiens that are well like for less money.

Stranos sway bars work well together and are hollow (lighter) than the competiters.

Certainly for autox, but I don't have just one setup and I also drive on the street... And I don't tolerate smashing-crashing ride from street cars. And I don't have just one setup. A lot of folks have found a lot of the part I use to autox very useful on the street, but there is no way any street car needs some of the parts I use on my car. But the shocks, springs and bars are all very useful.

That said, not everyone ends up with the same setup. Far from it. Again, comes down to the discussion and the results we are looking for.

did you leave a message? There is no "good" time to call, since I'm working alone these days I just can't answer all 4 of the incoming lines.

Of the 2 option packages, I would go with the Strano package.
