Need to get a key made
Long story short, I don't know where I left my car keys, and I only got one set (when I bought it, the owner only had one set and it was beat up some, too, like it had been in a freaking blender or some ****).
My car is an 03 and made within the last 7 years, so I'm assuming I can take my vin # up to a chevy dealership and have them order me a new key/fob combo?
thanks,
littles

Just bought my car, and the damn key is 30.00 plus 15.00 for the stealership to get the exact specs from the vin number to cut the key, plus tax and labor.
Thats just the damn ignition key.
Sucks for you, cause you need to know the pill number (ie) ohm value of the key, which i spent 7.00 on ebay , but i can cut it at work.
Yes, call the stealership and ask about varification, you will need proof if you dont have the spare set, they can still make em if you do not have a set at all, just need proof that YOU are the owner.
Just did this friday

I just went through he same process:
1) They need the VIN. The key is under $30. Take your title or insurance just in case they try to verify ownership. They didnt ask me for anything.
2) The remote is $70-75.
3) The programming of the remote is $70.
It took me a whole 40 minutes at the dealership. But yeah, you are looking at about $200 for getting the ignition key with remote.

Just following up here, that ebay key worked just fine. I ohm'd out my key with a digital meter, and followed the vats key scale and this google'd thread.

Super-bat, how did you program the keyfob? Ive never done it, and almost lost the keyfob twice now.
Thanks
