Default shaved door handles?

Just wondering if anyone has done it. My truck was broken into 2 months ago via the door handle. Low and behold, it cost 1500-2000 to re-skin the door and so on. So I started looking in to doing shaved door handles on my own, and having a shop paint the z71. This would get rid of one of the easiest ways to break in to my truck.

Is it worth the time, if not, I'll probably ghetto rig it with some fiberglass and filler. There is no way in hell I am paying my 1000 deductable b/c some *** stole my radio.

Shaved door handles??? hahaha, no, it's perfectly legal, you can't however shave the driver side out side mirror, gotta have those....

to the OP, it's not that hard as a company called Throbeck Bros fabrication make the filler plates you need for really cheap, and if you have some welding skills tac it in place, grind the welds down smooth as you can, cover the low spots with filler...I've shaved the tailgate, body line, and gas door on my old 99 Ranger when I was into the mini truck scene a few years ago..never got it painted as I got into the Street cars shortly after.... but to get an idea of my work in primer, here's a lil *** shot of my old Ranger
NVM the Mis-matched wheels, had to move it out of the way..

day it was sold

I though the easiest way was to break the window and open the door from the inside?

I've had shaved door handles on a few of my vehicles, no real problems unless the battery died...but I always had other ways into the vehicle just incase.

I to have had a few with the handles shaved. You do need a back up way to get in if your battery dies ( on your remote or vehicle). But if they want it they want it. They busted out my truck window and didnt even take ish. But radio theives usally dont go that far. If they want the truck they'll get it.

My dad had shaved door handles on his old Chevy truck, I thought it was the coolest thing ever!

Let me know if you get any progress, I would love to do this myself!

Yup, it's on the Z71. Think I am going to do it, since I have to repair the damage to the door anyways. I have a welder, and have been welding since I was a kid. Just wanted to see how everyone felt that had them. The truck is almost payed off (the SS is payed off), so I want to keep it. So I'm thinking shaved door handles and a 6 inch lift for next years mods. Then hopefully an Audi S5 or S4 in a year or two once the truck is paid off.

Hell I have some stage 2 heads and a reverse split cam I need to get put in the SS, but my door on the z71 looks like complete ***.

Once I start I will definately send some updates.

It's not illegal, look at the corvettes, they don't have door handles and they are 50 state legal

Jesus Christ that body shop ripped you off sooooooo bad..

Just make sure you keep a spare set of keys hidden somewhere under the truck. I have accidentally locked myself out of a few cars at work because of the stupid door popper ****. I think they suck because the door doesn't open up all the way on most cars and you have to pull on the edge of the door and hit the pop button at the same time. Either that or you get too good of a door popper and your door always flys out of control and destroys everything in its path.. It does make for a few good laughs when your friends are standing in the path of the door lol..

For what it's worth guys I have been pulled over in my black Trans Am and it doesn't have any mirrors, the cops never said anything. I thought you just had to have a rear view anyway, guess I was wrong.

um ok if you say so, but what if your knocked out in a c6 vette and the battery isn't connected? same issue. Just don't get it. I mean the c6 has "handles" but if there is no power to the car it's the same situation, it won't open.....
