Looking for two AC compressors for 2 2000 Camaros. Anyone found any good deals?

Thanks

I'm probably going to get re-manufactured Bloomfield compressors on ebay. I've heard they're all right.

I've had excellent luck with these folks in Houston:

www.apeautoparts.com

I've used their stuff on several vehicles over the last 15 years or so and they have always been the cheapest and the parts have always worked. As a matter of fact, I have one of their compressors in my 91RS that I put in in 2001. It's still going strong. Getting ready to get a compressor for my 99Z from them.

I replaced mine last summer. If you are going to get the Delphi replacement with warranty, you're looking at about $450.

Just checked at Autozone.. a new comp. cost between $279-$430 with 3 month warranty (new) the Delphi was $394 new with 3 month warranty.

At APE, a new comp. (unknown manufacturer) is $198 with a 1 year warranty.
The trick to compressor warranties is how they are installed. Different manufacturers have different guidelines.

I just checked their price for a new A/C compressor for my '98. It's only $200. That's a great price. Are they in Houston or Dallas?

The location I am familiar with is in Houston, inside the loop on I10, west of I45. The address is on their website, and yes, you can go to the location and pick up your part. (They also do installations for those who can't, but I have never used their shop, so I don't know how good of work they do.)

Sorry, the addy isn't on the website..here it is:

Great. Thanks. I'll probably stop by there sometime this week. I'm going to have a local guy on here install everything for me. I'm going to get this compressor, dryer, and an orifice tube. I don't know how many pounds of refrigerant I'll need, though.

Sounds like a plan.. On the refrigerant, I'm not sure either. I believe that is on the sticker under the hood (where it shows that the refrigerant type is R-134a) I don't have my car here at the moment, or I'd check for you. It may show in the repair manuals, if not, I'm sure they can tell you when you buy the parts. Don't forget the oil as well!
