Default Car to loud to hear problems if they arise.. ideas?

I have open longtubes with just pipes on the end of them. Very loud. I was thinking.. if I ever did have a bent rod or similar problems I wouldn't ever know because I can't hear a damn thing other than my exhaust. Any ideas on how I could give my car a little check up every once in a while to make sure she is okay?

How far back do the pipes go? Is this a race car or street car?

Stethascope. It's a street car, the pipes are about.. 1 1/2-2ft I like the sound, prolly get better power out of an X-pipe, but not quite in the budget yet(not because of price really, but because I want my cam first ;p)

No cam? Uncapped? Put some exhaust on that thing. Your motor is NOT big enough for exhaust like that not even with a cam.

Please put an exhaust of some sort on the car. If you must have loud to make it feel fast go with true duals. True duals sound amazing if you like loud all the time. Wide open exhaust right off of the header is just obnoxious and sounds like **** in my opinion. And it really sucks when you sound like a top fuel car but run a 13 second 1/4 mile.....

Honestly... You will hear noises, or know when **** is going south. I ran 3 feet of downpipe and my car was stupid loud, but cruising around it was fairly quiet...ish. You get used to the noise and will know when there is a new noise. Atleast for me. Gas pedal feel and noises is all I need. Even if its loudd.

Good thing it's not your car then, everyone tells me it sounds great- but thanks for the feedback =) It's really not THAT loud.. Harleys are obnoxious if anything, and it runs 12's, not 13's =D

It's not too loud for me, there is still piping, just no mufflers on them. I had the whole car put together from a rolling chassis, and I didn't have enough money to throw on a full $600+ exhaust system when I already enjoy the sound enough as is. I will eventually most likely add an X-pipe once I've finished my cam kit, which should pick up a bit of power hopefully.

I'll be using the Stethascope, thanks for the suggestion. She runs fine, but just wanted to make sure she was okay, and give her a check up every now and then.
