Default Anyone have experience with shooting a pistolgrip shotgun?

Well I was at the local gunshop for my lunchbreak just looking around, and a pistolgrip for my Maverick 88 caught my eye. I figured what the hell, it's $25 what could I lose? I just put the 18.5 barrel on it yesterday so why not make it more tactikool.

So I bought it, and now I am questioning my decision lol. I took it out last weekend and shot it at the range with about 25 rounds of 00 buckshot and it had my shoulder bleeding ha ha.

So thinking back on the damage it did to my shoulder, im wondering how bad my hand/wrist is gunna be after just a couple shots.

Any advice?

I shoot one often and use it as bedside insurance when not in use. I can tell you that slinging 3" Sabots will trash your wrist if you dont put the forward grip as well. All the energy will transfer to your wrist and you will know it after several shots.

See thats the problem, on the maverick 88 you cant change out the stock foregrip.

Oh well I imagine I will go trash my wrist one good time and then invest in the ATI folding stock. Should of done that from the get go I think ha ha.

i have a pistol grip 12 gauge shotgun. it hurts if you dont hold it correctly but most of the damage realy goes to the thumb area if u ask me. all u gotta do is have a very firm grip with both hands if not it can hurt very badly.

Try not to shoot the heavy loads. Lighter loads wont hurt as much but some of those regular buck shells pack a heavy punch. Reduced recoil rounds are much better and for a short range defense type gun, still pack plenty of power to put down anything.

I know, I was just making a suggestion. I've fired my friends Mossberg and the reg. pistol grip will definitely do more damage to your wrist.

Thats the one I am probably gunna get Dirty 30. I just figured shooting 20-30 rounds of buckshot aint gunna be any fun with a straight up pistol grip, atleast with that one you can drop the stock down and fire it from the shoulder.

I regret ever selling mine last year, 18.5 in barrel, surefire light, pistol grip. Probably gonna end up buying it back from my buddy sometime sometime soon. That thing went with me everywhere! lol Never had any issues with it "hurting" my wrist until I shot slugs over and over then the **** starts to hurt.

I mean I'm a big dude, and have an extremely high pain tolerance so I'm not too worried about it. I just wanna know what to expect.
