Default My ls1 73 Vette 12/1/10

I put this in the Conversion/hybrid section in June but i thought Id share with my fellow Texans. The car when I got it was a slow beauty queen. She looked fast but was not nowhere as fast as she looked. So I pulled the old 350 and th400 for a LS1/t56 swap that couple a months and finished it late August. The only thing mechanical wise I plan to do is get a good dyno tune. This month I will start on the body adding l88 flares and hood. Im waiting on my Vintage Wheel Works V48 to come in. I got them in 17x9.5 and 17x11 for the rear.

I dont have any good engine pics yet but will post soon.

Very nice! I'm not sure what L88 flares look like, but I like the way the car looks right now. Get you some more updated wheels and tires and you've got yourself one sweet vette.

looks good. IMO you need to lower the rear a couple of inches, make it sit level with the front. did you get all of your gauges to work after the swap?

Are you sure the 11" wheels will fit the rear on that car? I had a '68 and it didn't have enough room for a 295 tire. Had to get offset control arms to clear more than a 275 rear tire on those.

Good looking car! Those retrofit projects look like a blast.

That's a similar project to what I was planning... but with a cheaper early 80s C3. If I knew my car was going to be down for a year and cost the same either way I'd have gone that route.

Well the flares that I plan to use will add at least 3" per side. So I can run a 17x11 with a 335/35/17.. If you look at that picture with the yellow Vette those are 17x11 with the flares that I will use.

Looks like a stock Vette with a hood. I bet you will surprise more than a few folks out on the streets.

Any idle clips? I'm curious as to what the side pipes sound like.
