I've owned both Camaros and Mustangs and competition only helps the customers. The LS engines in any form walk all over the 4.6's. I think that should be the comparison. The LT1 should definitely be compared to the 5.0's. The new Coyote V8's in the Mustang GT's are pretty awesome and should be compared to the SS LS3. In terms of which car I would rather have? That's a toss up, they're both really nice cars with the Mustang being the lighter of the two. We could have this debate all day long but in the end, its nice to see Camaro vs. Mustang again.
Let's all try to maintain a tone of civility and have a discussion. Just because thesource likes Mustangs doesn't mean he's not welcome in an LS1 forum. I haven't seen any of his posts on this thread amount to any kind of trolling.
For what its worth, I've seen 5.0's the smoke LT1's and I've seen LT1's that have smoke 5.0's. I saw a 4.6v GT get smoked by an Ls1 z28. And I got smoked in my 01 Camaro SS convertible by some guy driving an 02 Cobra. What's it matter?

to a point, yes...but running an N/A to N/A app, you WILL make more power with more cubes...F/I to F/I its the SAME, the bigger the engine the bigger the power.
For example...
TT Viper, 500 cu in (8.4L) making 1500 whp
TT Z06, 427 (7.0L) cu in make 1200 whp
most these i am seen are on pump gas, with fairly low boost setting. when the TT viper gets dial up to race boost i have seen 2000 whp.
my LS2 with more bolt ons, and top end work can make 500 on a moderate tune. with other LS2 platform getting to the 600 and up all motor. with a just an F/I system and a proper blower cam, 525 to 550 is easy. there are some guys that are running damn near 900 rwhp and tq, but they have a 402 LSx with a procharger. my car right now with mild bolts and beat Corba's and GTs. GTs (with bolt ons) by buses, and corbas (minor upgrades) a little closer. newer GTs is a little closer, but the 5.0 Coyote is a strong motor and the Stangs weigh about 300 pounds less then me.
bottom line...there is still no replacement for displacement. and if you cant really see that, then you a deluded "fanboi" that is ignorant to cars...IMO.

well, for what its worth, the only time i've ever lost to a mustang was to an 03ish mach 1, but as it turns out, my car dynod 220/270, at 17:1afr and the fuel pump died later that week. that was in the first 2 weeks i owned the car. since then, i've raced a few 00+ gt's, older 5.0s, and two newer gt's including a shelby gt. have yet to lose, although i ahve yet to come across a termi or a new 5.0. this was all bone stock cept for an intake, muffler, and my fancy *** ls1 style wiper blades

(caps lock is broken) but are ls1 owners that upset over the new 5.0 spanking that fat camaro ***? the car is in the 9's already with a tranny swap with some spray. the new z28 is gonna be 60 thousand ******* dollars and in the 12ves. guess it's mission accomplished for ford, grab a tissue!

FYI...talk no is the new Z28 will cost about 8-10 k more the the 2SS (35k). i think the price will be around 45k, because GM wants to keep in about of the price range the of the Vette.
few specs to be expected LSA, 556hp and 551 tq. 0-60 sime of around 3.7, 1/4 in the low 12s. this is an estimate based of the CTS-V times of 3.9 and 12.5, but the Camaro weigh 300ish pounds less the the V.
there is talks of some having a "Yanko" option. this will get you, for a few extra grand, get you to around 600. this Yanko option will be dealer installed, basically will be a LS9 minus the 9.1 compression and dry sump oil are the big things missing.

The turbo 3.8L stuff was cool and I use to enjoy the Buick vs. Mustang shoot outs but the C4 Vette was far from being fast. A factory 5.0 Mustang with 5 speed would spank its ***. I remember guys running mid 11's back in the early 90's with a very, very limited amount of bolts on available for the 5.0 back then. I don't recall any 3rd gens being that fast in the same era of time. You guys can joke about Mustangs all you want. I get it, its a GM based tech board. Just remember the next time you get beat by a Mustang, a girls car just drug your ***.
Just remember, there were ******** like me that were yanking off the bullshit TPI and installing a carb and intake and smashing stangs. Otherwise, the stangs are light, but i still have not had any give my 89 a run for the money on motor heads up with traction. Seen them dip into the HIGH 11s all motor with more than just external bolt ons.

There is a blue Lt1 powered Camaro down here that runs in the mid 10's and its pretty quick. Probably the fastest one I can think of actually. We do have several quick Ls based GM's down here though and most of them are Vettes. The C6 Z06 is a beast even in stock form.
